How I got into watches

Hello everyone,

Happy to join this space to talk about time keepers, here is the piece that got me into it, old 60' skeleton that stopped working days after buying it..

I was sad and brought it to my local watch guy, learned a bunch about it (especially that it was not worth fixing) and then started my own research!

Months later down the rabbit hole of automatic watches I finally settled on a Sinn 556 I RS, that I absolutely love since I received it 2 weeks ago!

Hello and Welcome to @Max ’s house! We all have been squating here for a while and we are all glad he hasn’t kicked us out…esp. me… 😁…

Welcome. That’s a really interesting watch, shame it’s “not worth fixing”.

What a cool looking piece. You should still keep it even if it doesn't work anymore, since it was your first

...it was not financially worth fixing...

That rehaut has a roulette wheel vibe to it.

·

That movement is worth about 15 bucks and is built with free dirt and fingerprints in it and not enough oil to keep it going. I oiled the one i had to keep it going.

I agree with you all, I have definitely kept the watch and I do plan to fix it one day..

They apparently went too hard on the skeleton part making the entire thing twist under the main spring force.. also the balance wheel was way to weak and when it worked it gained 300+ seconds / day..

Still an interesting piece for sure :)

We all have "skeletons" in our watch boxes 😉

Watches we will never admit to owning before we realized that they were poorly made with very inexpensive materials despite how cool they looked to us at the time we purchased them.

Your choice of the Sinn reference is an excellent one - definitely a fine watch in any collection.

Welcome! Sorry to hear about your watch breaking down, but glad it got you into the hobby 👍
