Looking for a very specific watch - Revue Thommen Airspeed Classic Chrono Quartz

Hello everybody,

While browsing the amazing Robert Jackson's Watches Used In Space Exploration database, I recently fell in love with the Revue Thommen Airspeed Classic Chrono Quartz. The great look, titanium case and bracelet, nice quartz chronograph movement, smooth bezel and amazing dimensions made me get on the lookout for this watch.

However, after scanning through the classic Chrono24 and Ebay (where I found some of the black dial variant), I am left with absolutely zero listings for this watch with the blue dial and the titanium bracelet.

So here goes my question: how do you find this type of watch, from less known brands and not available on the mainstream websites? I am both on the EU and US market if this helps answering the question.

If I piqued your interest about this piece, an amazing review of the watch can be found here. But I guess this is adding competition to my quest 😂

Please help me get my (late) christmas gift!! ✨

If it's no longer in production & no one is selling, it's not going to be found.

Sorry.

Now that you've informed me about this, it's another watch I need to add to my want list. Damn it lol!

Yeah, that’s a terrible list. Now there are a bunch more watches I want.

It’s interesting to me that more brands didn’t lean into the space able with their watches like Omega did. For most of us, part of why we love our watches is the stories behind them. And every time somebody mentions “heritage”, that’s just the story the brand has told us about themselves. Omega has done a great job of telling us about its history in space. I’m surprised more brands haven’t done so.

Revue Thommen has been owned until recently by the Grovana group, but is now back under ownership of the Thommen family. Lots of RT watches (inc Airspeeds) are being sold lately on Jomashop and I've also seen them on Watchgang. Keep your eye out as the automatic versions have been heavily discounted recently and you can pick them up at quartz prices.

If you are looking for an older model you could also try contacting Grovana directly at info@grovana.ch I contacted them recently when I was looking for a watch band and they were extremely helpful.

Might be a long shot but you could also try the owner Andreas Thommen at thommen@thommenwatches.com

You never know, the Grovana Group or the Thommen family might have something sitting around as new old stock and you could get lucky. I've purchased a couple of watches recently direct from the manufacturer and you'd be surprised what can happen if you ask :)

The Airspeed is one of RT's most successful models and I believe the family has plans to release more of this line in the future. If you can't find one now, be patient as there could be more coming.

Good luck with your search!
