Do you shower with your watch on?

Keeping with the trend of simple questions, how often do you shower with your watch on?

For me, I'm about 50/50 on it. I tend to keep my sportier watches on when taking a shower, as it helps to get the grime from sweat and sunscreen off of them. If I've got a dress watch, or something on nylon/leather on, I'll yoink it off before hopping in the shower.

How about you?

I feel like I’m not cleaning my entire body with my wrist covered 😂

·

Nah can’t do it, water under a strap/bracelet would irritate my wrist. Plus steam is a watch’s enemy as well.

That's why you lather your bodywash and soap on the watch too 😎

·

That sounds totally appropriate to the watch community 😆

Same, 50/50.

Often take it off in the shower so I can give it a wash too.

Wear a watch 24/7

Depends on the watch. G Shock? Of course! Junghans Milano Solar? No way!

·

Never

·

Depends on the situation.

Just taking a shower at home? No.

Showering at the gym, beach, or at the campground? Yes.

·

Sometimes... But I put it in the one place no one can find it

I’m not sure. He also told me chlorine hurts the seal. But when I go into a pool I don’t want a watch. Just want to relax. But maybe he was speaking of older watches? Maybe newer seals are bette r

No, the soap and shampoo threat seems very real, since surfactants basically make water wetter by reducing surface tension. Hot surfactant water is going to have more penetrative ability than plain cold water. I imagine chlorine is not nice to rubber or whatever sealing surface either.

I'll wear a watch in the shower if I need to clean it. Other than that, I take off my watch before I shower

I guess better to be safe than sorry. I saw one YouTuber dunk his Speedmaster in a pool and almost died lol

·

That is the only time I do not wear a watch.

·

I showered with this watch too - yeah baby! It sure felt wetting nice.

Yes, usually my G Shock.

I tend to run in the morning, and therefore I'm almost always late to work 😅

No time to take that thing off!!

·

Only my G Shock. After going to the pool or the beach.

Showering with a watch isn’t a good idea. Most people use off the shelf soaps and shampoos. Those have certain chemicals in them that can actually corrode the seals. Also, steam just generally isn’t good for a watch.

If I've sweat in it, yes, but I don't then leave it on my wrist wet

·

Shower, pool, hot tub, sports, bed. My watch never leaves my wrist wherever i go, unless it's to adjust the time.

Been doing this 30+ years and not a single watch of mine has let in any water.

·

Yes, if it is a public bathroom like swimming pool where you don't want to loose your watch. At home, no watch unless want to test the WR.

·

Only if the bezel is getting stiff

Other than that no. As I have to take it off after to dry myself and watch anyway might as well take it off first and have a proper shower

@PaulWhaley I usually take off the watch when using a soap or shampoo and once done with rinsing, will put the watches back on, not sure if that's weird 😅

Even though my watch is water resistant for up to 200m I still remove my watch. I don’t really baby my watches but something doesn’t sit right with me when I shower
