This is a very odd idea - claiming an association between changing musical tastes and changes in preferences for different types of watches. Too many variables here.
You could claim all sorts of associations: watch/cake, watch/furniture, watch/shirts, watch/types of shampoo and so on.
I'm the other way round. I only wear a watch when I go out and take it off when I get back. I never wear one at home. I have clocks and a phone for that.
However, most days I do nip upstairs to admire my collection.
I would have the Victorinox INOX in red. Way under $1000 (nearer half that) but a tank proof, Swiss watch that is chunky, well made and finished and looks good. It has a beautifully clear face and a thick rubber strap. I could live with just this watch.
The Ray Mears is a great watch. Titanium, very clear face, solar powered. It is also one of those watches that you can drive a tank over and it won't blink. I am fortunate to have a tank and I check this out pretty often.
One of the top watches in all sorts of ways.
