Letting You In On a Little Secret 🤫

Grand Seiko prices keep going up and up. But if we look in the past, we can find many great watches from the 60s when King and Grand Seiko went toe to toe in an internal battle as a way to compete with the Swiss. Today, you can pick up a handsome King Seiko for under $1000, but is going vintage KS + GS worth the hassle?

Vintage Seiko is when Seiko cared about quality and timekeeping.

Today, not so much.

I mean, that's why @Porthole and @Aurelian are always so surly! All they do is collect vintage and they're constantly pissed off by their watches!

Vintage Seiko's look like vintage Oysters or maybe that should be vintage Oysters look like vintage Seiko's? Either way I love them both 👍

Good comparison, they were all just simple and beautiful

·

Damnit Max, just as I was trying to track down a fair-priced 44KS this summer you had to let everyone in on the secret and now everyone will chase these beauties too! 😂

·

Seiko + caring about their product= brilliant watches. Not quite on topic but..

Last week, I bought a KS4502-7001 and I love it. It wears great on my slender wrist, and that movement is great.

I own one, these are great!

Your friends website about to be sold out now haha

Heres my vintage KS 45-7001 which has been serviced and the case re-finished by The Lapinist who is based in Poland.

With all the work put into it plus the cost of the watch, I'd say it owes just over £1000 which is still cheap in comparison to new GS. I hope to maybe find a new set of hands as the handset on mine is a little shot.

I recently just acquired this king Seiko sbp279. love the overall quality, definitely it felt as good as my GS.

Surprisingly I do not like the bracelet, and had to change to strap instead. But the silver dial make it harder to match with other colour other than black or brown. If only they have it with champagne dial.

I personally love the more dimensional Dauphine hand though. I was comparing it with sbgw231 Vs sbp279. And felt KS is more value for money. 😂

Agree GS keep making new models but with higher price, for me its pure marketing.

·

Video suggestion: GS SBGF021. 😬. Surely I am biased. Here my own.

8F movement with jumping hours function, the father of the 9f for less then 1k usd! Some say the 8F can be even better that the 9F in some aspects.

Hey Max, I’m keen for a GS or KS from my birth year of 1970. Your video recommended that model up to 1968- is there a particular model from 1970 that is worth seeking please?
