I am pleased to announce I have acquired a superb 1970 Seiko DX SeaLion from our friend Gareth. I received the watch yesterday and am truly amazed at the restoration. Importantly, it satisfies what I've been looking for in a vintage watch:
purchased from a trusted source;
excellent condition;
birth year timepiece; and
a favorite brand
From a thematic perspective, it fits perfectly within my current collecting preference
-- smaller diameter, thin case, and (sort of) minimalist design. Thanks, Gareth!

I'm absolutely thrilled that you're happy with it (and relieved that it's survived it's journey across the pond)
It's a very simple, "clean" case and I tried hard not to over-restore it.
It can be tempting to try and return a case to "new" but if you remove too much material it can destroy the case shape/symmetry... and leave the watch devoid of character.
I've also learned to leave dials alone! 😬

I had to leave the deep ding near the S in Seiko as it was deeper than the caseback text. But I do love the Sealion.

Good vintage 1970... this is mine from the best birth year of all. (I do keep the odd one or two)
It's a 6119 -8095 that looked like this when I acquired it...
I decided to replace the dial much to the exasperation of @DeeperBlue; I couldn't live with the missing index at 2 and decided a new dial and hands were more important than authenticity. #shocker
