HALF A MILLION POUNDS!!!!!!???

So! I had this on the wrist today! To think Rolex couldn’t give’m away ! They had nothing going for them! No date, wasn’t automatic nor was it waterproof!! Why would anyone have bought this Rolex at the time?!?;)

Most Rolex customers did not!

I think about this all the time. So wild. I find it incredibly gorgeous.

Which model is this?

Love the “Cosmograph” completely encapsulates the 60s!

You’re a lucky man but that looks like a very hard concrete floor - hate to think what might have happened.

·

What year are we talking?

·

Half a million pounds is a lot of mad hackers..

·

The Grail of Grail watches, for me at least.

I could do alot other things with 500k pounds

Ahh... The one and only Mad Watch Collector - Hopefully, you were not strolling around London with that thing... As Britt says: "your sleeve is your friend..." BTW nice reference .5MM Quid - I bet no box + papers?

Love the work you do on YouTube - whenever the day sucks I like to look at the channel for a laugh.

Keep up the good work mate!!!

Yeah a piece of junk 😅

Ref. 6264, I believe. “Paul Newman“ Daytona. Half a million pounds is a bit steep though, there‘s one listed on Chrono24 for 400k Euros.

·

Nobody really did unless they got a big discount. Does nothing for me, if they released this today without the hype I don’t think it would sell well now

·

Amazing what some clever marketing can do.

The original 'Paul Newman Daytona' it's worth a ridiculous amount if you Google it

Hype aside (even if this model didn’t exist back in the day), I think a vintage inspired chrono like this would do really well in our modern watch world. Other brands have had success with vintage styled chronographs (as well as other types of watches). Obviously impossible to a true read on anything with that crown on the dial. I think anything Rolex nowadays = sales.

Even if it's not your style, still a privilege to be in that position to try one for a bit @MWC2020

Impressive mate 👏🏻👏🏻

·

Awesome!

All because Paul Newman wore it for a movie. And we keep saying brand ambassadors don't matter 😂😂😂

·

Still not that great looking a Daytona quite honestly and not one I have any desire to own.

·

I found $0.43 under my couch cushions if that helps.

·

Maybe someday…in my dream🛌 😴💭

I don’t really see vintage vibes with the dial, to me it’s always looked unfinished which was actually the case, if I recall was this dial not a blank?

·

Best looking Daytona and still not the best looking chrono of the 60's. Feel free to try to change my mind.

·

While I can appreciate the beefcake look of the 1988-present Daytona, I like the more causal and less tomic look

·

You know they really like to show of with the little three clocks inside the clock 😂

·

It's not really about watch collecting at all. It's a fascinating example of economic sociology.
