You've made a wise decision! Now, you possess this brand-new vintage Omega that's built to last for years. I faced a similar situation when my dad passed down a vintage Rolex 15000 to me.
Despite corrosion in the watch case and dial, I chose to follow Rolex's advice, opting for a costly overhaul instead of buying an exact same model. The watch holds sentimental value, and now, after the overhaul, itโs a new vintage timepiece. I have no regrets, and I'm sure you'll enjoy your watch as much as I do mine.
Not many people opt for overhauling vintage watches with new parts, but maintaining it well brings me joy, and I'm willing to invest in that. It's the satisfaction of preserving something with sentimental value.
I do not have the 39mm. Always prefer the 36mm size explorer. I feel that the 124270 is a combination of vintage and modern. You might want to give it some time if you are used to wearing big size watches. For me I feel comfortable wearing it. One of my favourite watch!ย
Yes I have served and completed my 10 years of reservist too. MR loh!ย
I enlisted in 2007, I remembered wearing a Casio F-91W. โThe army watch.โ Itโs slim, light, comfortable and serves its purpose well. Especially during IPPT or route march. The watch is no longer in my possession now but I have tons of memories with it.
