Most underrated Rolex?

To the extent any Rolex can actually be underrated—these days, they seem to be thought of as either insanely hyped (Daytona) or just the worst thing ever (Yacht-Master 2)—what is your pick?

Lately, I’ve been thinking about the original Kermit. I know collectors get caught up in the nuances of the different bezels, but for me, the combination of the maxi dial (bigger hour markers and hands) and the non-maxi case (slimmer lugs) makes this such an interesting watch. Almost like the best version of a modern Sub if you have smaller wrists or you prefer the shape of the old five-digit Subs.

Anything else that we should be paying more attention to?

Yellow gold 16628 YM in MOP dial with ruby indices. It’s my grail Yacht Master. I might try and get one next year.

Red Grape for me.

Air-King for me. Not a lot of love for this absolute stunner of a watch.

·

I love that Kermit. You don't happen to have the reference number for that one handy?

Me too. 16610LV!

·

I say the Milgauss.

For those reasons you listed, I think the Kermit is the best Sub.

For others, I'd say Datejust Turn-o-graph, because it has a rotating bezel, but it's almosr dressy.

And the Oysterquartz. No hype, but very interesting. And integrated!

The Yacht-Master 40mm or 42mm variants. Absolutely stunning watches! 🥰

Sea Dweller

The Submariner.

·

The new dress watch. Doesn't have that bland generic Rolex look but is visually interesting.

·

The Cellini range. So underrated it's discontinued.

Where are these "Ratings"?

I personally think the Ym40 ever rose is underrated and overlooked. yes it’s not rare or collectible but by pure looks and comfort? I think it’s one of the best modern Rolex atm.

The green aluminium bezel insert is nice too.

·

Agree, the thing that makes the Kermit is the maxi dail in the 5-digit/slimmer lug case. the "modern" sub is an awesome watch, but that maxi case I could do without.

·

If I had the money I would go for one of these

I say the Milgauss.

Agreed. Definitely a "niche" watch, but still so cool.

I Love the blue/green dial as well.

It’s not easy being the original green

Hard for me to consider any Rolex underrated. There are so many Rolex collectors and the brand as a whole is so overhyped that pretty much every reference is in demand and people are paying crazy money for them.

Yuuuup! The Yacht-Master 40's are all underrated. Your watch is 🔥🔥🔥 and pictures don't do it justice. 😍

I am pretty much the opposite...I think they are ALL over Rated..But that is just me..JMO..In the last 10 years it is all about FLEX...There are just to many great watches out there...Again, JMO Enjoy the hobby

·

The one that takes my fancy and seems a little under rated is the black dial explorer 2

Rest of range leaves me cold to be honest now the millgaus has been discontinued

·

The chino24 price point on these is surprising low in comparison to the ceramic bezel standard black date and no dates. I think it may be a sleeper buy atm. Smashing watch

·

I was thinking about this the other day when I was re-watching the TV series “Silicon Valley,” I spotted Erlich (a character) wearing the Kermit almost for four seasons. Ever since then, I have been pondering about the Kermit.

·

The Turn-O-Graph. They go for pretty low on the used market and have a nice look to them
