From Abundance to Just the Right Amount…

I felt like sharing today and how it’s been with my collection journey, I have been in a such a depressive mood and trying to find some sort of contentment and I always flock to watches to find IT, but as of late it couldn’t find or ignite the same passion as before…

I have been thinning out the herd and keeping key pieces and trading for pieces that will console whatever it is that I’m currently feeling, and it finally dawned on me by chatting with a few cruncher friends and my AD of all people, not knowing that what I have been unconsciously chasing is this…

Image

Yes as cliche’ as it might sound, I get it! I have been wearing this for few days straight and yes, I get it! I traded a few watches for this and mind you it’s not new! It’s scratched and worn! But weirdly preferred it that way…

So my point of this is … Is this IT for my journey? Keep only the Cartier and Rolex it pretty much covers all occasions right? Ok can’t live without a gshock but that’s ok…

Anyways, it’s been such a journey with you guys and I hope you guys find IT… similar to @gmtminx did I find my Exit… I believe my friends I have…

Thanks for reading, and always a pleasure hanging out with you guys in this weird place called WatchCrunch….

Ok some photo of my possibly 2 watch collection…

Haha! Nah, its all you. It can take some time to contemplate change and to let go of things that no longer serve us. Watches are one of hobbies that can quickly turn into the saying, “too much of a good thing”. I’ll be ready to see you in your Cartier and speedo come summer time! 🩲 💪🏽

Enjoy ! Hope you feel better each day. That’s an amazing pair 🔥

Two wonderful, timeless classics. Never wrong, always right. Enjoy

Man, so happy for you Ichi! I have been selling off my watches as well….sold 14 so far…..and still going.

I totally get it, I think about a month or so ago, I was trying on some of my watches and didn’t feel anything anymore for them.

It’s weird….like breaking up. 😂🤣

Anyhow, I hope you still hang around WC and share any new posts; enjoy your friendship on here! 🍻

Yeah….2023 was a watch buying spree…..I want to be more intentional. So, any watch in what used to be 27 watch collection, doesn’t make me feel “wow,” is gone!

I’ll keep what I feel connected to, but I’m selling off and saving for something for my birthday. Something with real pedigree.

How about you? Are you done buying permanently? Or just for now?

·

Watches aren’t just about buying and keeping em…………. You can mod and build them and you my friend CAN build 👌🏻

·

Until the next one🤗

·

Congratulations! 🎉 I hope you savor the contentment and new calm. 🍻

That would an awesome collection🍻

Now all I need is for someone to give me a 10k watch shopping voucher and I'm set. This is what I'm currently at.

I’ve recently come to a similar conclusion. My 2 watch core “collection” is my Grand Seiko and Breguet! Won’t be buying anything new any time soon and will try to wear my other watches on occasion, but these 2 give me that special feeling.

Nope just stainless steel…

Beautiful still

whoa! sorry to hear depressive stuff. My job has sometimes given me random panic attacks, so I can relate slightly to a brain that's not cooperating.

If not already asked - what went toward the Rolex? Have you always wanted a Rolex secretly, or it's a new fascination?

Love to hear what's changed and why the move to 2. I've swapped between a GS, an alpinist and a MAD green today sofar. 🤪 all are so wonderful 🥰

I’m not sure, why Rolex but I guess, had secret crush on them that just recently flowered…

Why 2 … simplicity… in a chaotic brain, options can be a hurdle at times…

Had to say goodbye to 2 gS,longines, smp and top time

OMG - ok, I’m weird I guess but would want 2 or 3 Rolexes for my GS. I know it’s well made and loved by all, esp muggles, but too dull for me.

Going through your photo book, your Cartier is a long term watch acquisition. classy and dressy, does it get much wrist time?

My perception is your collection has moved from wide weird wonderful, to ‘2 watches for a classy guy”, from an article in GQ.

#1 and #2 of Morgan Stanley report. 👨🏼‍💼📊📉📈

Like too buttoned up, corporate and stereotypical for my lovely chaotic friend. Are you tricking us 🤔?!

It's interesting that you posted this because for the last few days I have been seriously considering going down to a primary, secondary, and beater watch collection. And I'm not positive that I have that primary watch in my collection yet so I have been scratching my brain on what to do....

How did you know the GMT Master was IT for you?

It’s weird but for some reason it’s just made sense at the moment and I felt as cliche’ as it sounds … felt right and complete … it’s a feeling it’s weird…

You're making me miss the 116710LN. I sold mine last year. 😭

I trust this message finds you in good spirits. I resonate deeply with your sentiments. Over the past few years, my collection has grown to 53 watches—an assortment that might seem modest to some yet overwhelming to others. Personally, I've come to realize that it's an excessive number, not just in terms of management but also in the neglect of certain pieces that deserve more wrist time.

Thinking about advice given to me by @cyclopseye last year, I've had an epiphany. He suggested on focusing and cultivating a profound connection with the watches I cherish most. I've prioritized wearing those more often while staying focused on purchasing only the ones I've have researched and am as sure as I can be that they will be part of my core collection.

This past weekend, I categorized my collection into distinct groups: Core, Gifted, Undecided, and Not Worn/Sell. Consequently, I've identified 12 pieces that no longer speak to me and I intend to part ways with them, and looking to streamline my collection even further.

Wishing you all the best, my friend, and extending heartfelt congratulations on finding solace in your collecting journey. May we all be as fortunate as you and @cyclopseye Raymond.

I appreciate your kind words Danilo.

I shared my method as it works for me in my hectic and chaotic environment, as I lik to keep thing simple and I’m really glad it resonates with you.

I believe we are all here to enjoy the hobby with the hopes to have a chuckle or two with some new friends that appreciate this hobby along the way. It’s my pleasure to have contributed in anyway possible!

Jerome Ichibunz I approve immensely of your move and choices in your two watch collection. Your are all class my friend, enjoy to the fullest 🤝

In my humble opinion, these 2 watches are enough💯
