Weird to me

How can someone have so much hate towards a watch or brand? Unless you’ve owned it and had a bad experience I don’t understand why people throw such Shade …..

I mean it’s a watch… if you don’t like the design or the brand then don’t buy it … let the next guy who’s into it enjoy it

obviously this doesn’t include advice on quality or experience with a watch like I said

Your 100% spot on ,how can you complain about something if you haven't experienced it

·

I'm sorry you don't get as much fun from it as I do. Screw you, Omega!

Because I’m an opinionated, entitled, uninformed wrist warrior with machine guns for fingertips. The world will listen to me!

Because as a psychologist I know Stockholm Syndrome when I see it (****COUGH******ROLEX AD's******* COUGH*****

I am letting my hate consume me, so together I can rule the galaxy as father and son.

The only hate I see is from influencers who I think have something to gain or loose and use the headline to grab views. I like Nico, I think he is funny however although opinions are just that, I don’t think they realise the damage they can cause with the people that follow when the hate so much on any brand.

·

Not sure how accurate this is across the board, but often when I see something on here that looks like hate, I end up finding that it’s a language barrier issue, where someone’s tone gets messed up in translation.

·

The real holy trinity should be a Rolex, an Invicta, and a [enter fashion brand here]. 😂👌

Easy rule not enough people want to admit; Like cars, every watch is great at the right price.  Invicta at $200 No way, let's kill it with fire. Invicta at $50? Cool way to get into the market without spending a lot of money.

The art is the in-between and the appreciation of what is being presented. Now, when we start to talk about high-end pieces, allocation models, rare editions, etc; folks will naturally feel excluded and take that out on the product or brand. It is important we recognize the differences.

I personally think the hunt is 40% of my enjoyment … getting something I love at a deal is part of what I  like about watch collecting … and I agree invicta auto under 100$ that’s not 200mm I’m interested … 50 mm invicta for 300$ you could pay me to wear it

Agreed, we all love the hunt, regardless of what price point we are looking at.

Welp, at least there’s a plan 🤣

·

I think the converse is true as well. How can someone so staunchly defend a brand they've never owned?

Everyone is an expert when it comes to their own opinion is all it is. But I agree, a better opinion is formed when you have first hand experience. Although, standing by a "principle" can apply in some cases. If a watch brand has marketing that doesn't speak to you that's reason enough to be turned off by it.

A lot of Android phone users hate Apple, not for the product but for what the brand represents. On the surface it's entirely irrational and subjective, but more importantly it's a way for people to express their values.

With phones it is a bit more complicated, because you are not just buying a mere physical artefact, you are buying into a software infrastructure. The amount of control Apple exudes over your devices after purchase (including [lack of] repairability and planned obsolescence) is something one can object to on rational grounds.

Maybe it's just me, but I intentionally bought 2 watches that A LOT of watch people sh!t on because they hate on them so hard! #InvictaProDiver #Movado

If you can get a invicta pro diver for the right price in my opinion it’s a damn good watch … but it literally all has to do with the price … and honestly there are a couple movado I really like .. that signature circle looks really cool on some of the more minimal stuffs to me

You can do whatever you want … I just don’t understand it … it’s an object … I think Hondas and Toyotas are horrible looking cars but who cares … someone else likes them .

just like watches … if you like it cool … what do I care , you’re wearing it not me … it’s just a form of elitism as far as I’m concerned … if someone wants to buy an Amazon watch that looks like a submariner go for it … I was the idiot who bought a Rolex pepsi over market and now I’m scared to even wear it … maybe that person was the smart one .

As an IP lawyer I spend most of my time worrying about those type of things 😂😂😂

And yes, lawyers are known for having morals, you're defending the indefensible... I didn't realize the occupation which started this post... becuause stealing and lying is okay in your world view.  I don't have to have respect for watch brands which do immoral things, from stealing IP to mispresentations.  You represent the law, but not necessarily justice.  Remember early days in law school when you thought you could do good?  Don't waste your time my tatoo shop owning lawyer.

·

Just to throw abit more tinder on that open flame OP, but I see no problems with watch people hating The Brick Watch company.

When pure ignorance and greed come together, then is marketed to the masses, not even mall or fashion watch insults can come close to being called "brick watch buyer".

I absolutely am not an ip lawyer   hahahahahah..im a professional scumbag ….I live in the underbelly of society and I love it … honestly to think that any  good idea isn’t going to be ripped off is just naive … you don’t have to respect it , but you should 1000% expect it … nothing is original, everything is a rip off of something else… from soda to religions

maybe because I exist in art community I’m just use to the idea of being ripped off

At least your opinion is a product of personal experience, unlike those who just refuse to use an Apple product because it's for "Apple sheep".

I have both of those in my collection!

·

My thoughts... I don't hate brands for the sake of hating a brand, but I do despise certain groups of watch collectors who espouse the virtues of one brand as being the only brand that matters... that makes me hate them and then in-turn roll my eyes at the brand.

Humans are social animals, and tribal.  We get pyschological comfort from being in and around other people who think like us.

Our tribes could be our religion, our political views or the products we enjoy (like watches).

Tribal affiliation is typical partisan - "us and them".

Somewhat unhealthily, a lot of people tend to generate a lot of their self-worth from their tribal affiliations.  So, everything their tribe believes is good is naturally and 'objectively' superior, wholesome, sacred; and anything from another tribe must be bad, wrong, immoral, indecent, evil, etc.  And any criticism of their tribe is taken as an affront to them personally.

Social media has exacerbated this partisan behaviour by allowing our tribes to exist in echo chambers.  So we get haters and fanbois.
