It’s a weird one for sure … only thing I can think is that they wanted to do day and night sectors at top and bottom instead of side to side

It is quite common to have daylight at the top, check out Svalbard watches.
I like this Jiandun, nice and clean design. I keep putting off buying a 24hr, there are so many to choose from that I can't make up my mind.
