What's the one thing you hate most about your favorite watch?

So my favorite watch in my collection is my Omega Aqua Terra. It's been the most worn watch in my collection for four years running now averaging between 35-50% of total wrist time each year.

But I'll say, I hate the crown on this watch. It's hard to grip and the watch is hard to hand wind. The crown also makes it hard to determine when I am appropriately threaded to screw it down. I have fairly small fingers and this is the 41mm version. I can only imagine what people with big fingers or those who have the 38mm version have to go through to set and wind this watch.

Thankfully, I don't have to wind it much given how frequently I wear it.

What's your biggest pet peeve about your favorite watch?

I been loving my Seep Blue Dive Master 1000 GMT lately and my complaint is the weight. Other then that I love it. My favorite watch changes frequently.

·

Direnzo 04: AR coating/ reflections. This might be an operator error 😅but I struggle to get the shot I want lol.

Always hated that the day date on my g shock was the wrong way around. But I fixed it now so there is no need to complain 😂

My favorite watch is this Grammy Precisionist my wife bought me for my birthday last year. I have recorded and mixed a lot of music, and have worked in some facet of audio for over two decades, so the watch is very "me." However, I never wear the thing while I'm at work because it has no rotating bezel, thus I can't time my breaks (three each day, all of which start whenever I can fit them in, so it's hard to keep track), so it's impractical for weekday use.

That said, I'm planning on getting another Precisionist, the "Champlain," because I want to swap the movements and dials between them. Then I'll have a carbon fiber bracelet that matches my wedding ring, and I'll have a rotating bezel to time my breaks at work, all while appreciating my vinyl record dial on the daily.

Very good observation. I have the exact same experience. It’s the hardest watch to wind in my collection.

·

I guess first I would have to figure out which is my favorite watch. I think I have it narrowed down to six. 🤣

·

That’s a hard one to answer! I have a general problem with date windows, since they often oafishly ruin the balance of the dial, are the wrong colour, sit at silly angles or are otherwise bumptious enough to put me off a watch altogether.

My Muhle 29er has an appallingly mis-matched date wheel that suffers from trying but trying badly. See photo. It’s an even lighter, rather more cyan blue than depicted. Grrrr. 😖

Image

On the other hand. I find the date on my RGM quite pleasing and I don’t know why!

·

My favourite one, there is nothing I don't like about it, maybe some lume in the seconds hand but that is it

·

Yes 👏

·

I always want a date complication 🙄

Blackbay 36.

Would love the bracelet to have a half link and on the fly adjustment but that's it. The fit is great 90% of the time it's only in - degrees or 30+ degrees when it's a little too loose or tight for my liking

·

Santos Medium - By now, everyone's mentioned the scratches.

·

My timex Essex Ave’s second hands don’t fully line up with the watch face

·

I 100% agree, I hate winding my Aqua Terra the crown is difficult to grip and is a pain to pull to the write position to set the date and time.

·

With my Omega AT: Ditto on everything you said about the crown.

I know your AD7 is a bit different from mine because it has the Old Radium lume, but mine also goes from blue to green depending on whether I feed it with a regular flashlight or a UV light. My major gripe about this watch is that leather strap season is about to end in my area and there's no Damascus bracelet available. Thus I'll have to switch to my diver soon.

Its almost like Wise lume is too good haha. Debated endlessly between the old radium or normal lume white dial versions as both look stunning

·

No alarm. No countdown timer. To be fair I got it for the lights, and it has 30 of them, so I'm satisfied, but still

·

This is my favourite watch, it's not always my most worn but I can honestly say I like everything about it.

Great that you feel that way! Interestingly, I have other watches in my collection that I feel are less flawed than the AT, but they aren't worn nearly as much because once on the wrist, the AT is nearly flawless. My only issues are when I have to interact with it.

·

I wouldn’t say I HATE it, but I do often wish the new 9SA5 hi-beat movement was more accurate. Mine runs about 8 or 9 seconds fast per day. It’s a total nitpick, but I think if it fell closer to COSC spec I’d be completely content with it. Everything else I find perfect. I even got a good fit on the bracelet!!

At that price, I’d be disappointed too. Can it be regulated to a tighter tolerance?

·

The price tag.

That’s sad to hear. It looks like it would be comfortable. My Carrera chronograph is hard to wind but the positions are very well distinct for quick date and time. Is it loose on the Omega? My only watch where the 2 and 3 positions are “loose” is a Limes with a standard ETA 2824.

Sad to hear because the Aqua Terra is one of the watches I want to finish my collecting, and no matter how beautiful the AT teak dial is it’s a deal breaker.

The positions aren't loose, if anything it is I overly stiff so it end up pull past the position. But it is super comfortable to wear on the rubber strap or on the after market bracelet I have.

How did you fix it?

Hold the top left button and then scroll through the options with the bottom left button. Then you adjust the day first instead of the month 👍

·

Love that aqua terra, by far the best colour way

It can, but I’m going to wait for the regular service interval to have it addressed. It’s not that big of a bother. That said, after a service if it’s more accurate the rest of my collection is going to be in some serious trouble.

·

Sinn 556 I.B.

Needs either a couple of half-links or and on the fly adjustable clasp.

·

Top Shelf,

I have the same watch, just in blue. It’s an awesome watch but a bit of a pain to set. If it wasn’t for that I’d probably wear it much more.

I originally thought the fact it is a push/pull crown would be a negative but I actually find it a positive since getting it. The only thing I would like to make it a little better is a display caseback, but there may be a way to fix that, it just might mean I need to buy another CW 😁

I don't mind push pull crowns. In a lot of ways, they are way easier to handle. I find threading a lot of my screw down crowns to be a big pain in the ass.
