What’s your experience?

What are your pros and cons for the Invicta pro diver (automatic)?

They're fine! Totally solid for what they are. If you're comfortable with a homage watch, the price is right (I think I got the one I had for $40 used.) If you want to spend a little more money you might get more out of a San Martin or Pagani at this point.

·

Although I do not have this watch, I have not heard anything terrible about it. You can find them in Amazon for way less than $100, more like $70. It's a great deal for what you are getting.

Ahh, yes. My first automatic, many moons ago. A tad chunky, even for an NH35 watch (Natos really raise it up off the wrist). But it never failed me. Never had issues with gaskets. Never had issues with the movement or bezel action. All around was a decent pickup. Don’t pay too much though. These can be had for $40-$55 if you shop around.

The price is good and my Pro diver looks really cool. Luckily my pd seems to run pretty good. The bracelet isn't too great and it would give a me rash if I got too sweaty.

Glad to see many positive experiences with the Invicta Pro Diver. I bought one with the NH35 movement and it was less than half a year before the entire movement broke loose in the case. Sent it in, and got a Pro Diver with a quartz movement back. Can't really call it anything other than a bad experience.

That really is a bad experience

I have not had good luck with Invicta. Six purchases, four broke within six months, only one covered by warranty, and I got a quartz watch to replace a broken automatic. I finally gave up on the brand. Even the 1953 couldn't tempt me back. I will never criticize someone for their watch purchases, but I really don't have anything positive to say about Invicta.

·

My first automatic mechanical watch, $90 bought in 2002. It had a Miyota non hacking movement. I recall that it kept decent time. Had it for about 4 years and never had a problem with it. I gave it to a friend.

I bought 2 more in 2004 for my dad and my father-in-law. My father-in-law got it serviced in 2018 at some local watch repair and it’s still ticking. He’s been the recipient of a bunch of my watches to include a Hamilton Khaki Field, a Bulova Precisionist and a Citizen Eco Drive. The Invicta remains his favorite. My dad didn’t like having to power it up every time he wore a different watch for a week, he liked quartz better so he gave it to my brother who already had a Submariner and an Omega Seamaster 300. My brother wore that more often than his other mechanicals since he didn’t mind banging it around and completely scratching and denting the bezel. He wore for at least 5 years till it crapped out. But for $90, I think it was well worth it.

For $90 it’s a great watch. I’ve seen it at Sam’s still for the same price.

Thanks drew. Definitely have new things to think about.

A cheap watch, devoid of any originality, and regarded as a joke by many. That just about covers the cons.

The main pro would be price.

·

They are made to look like a Submariner but have Seiko guts. What's not to like in a budget diver.

·

Here's my review of its big brother, tge 3044 Grand Diver:

Review (Click here.)

·

Solid build quality, solid specs and solid movement for around $100 new I have the 35701 model.

·

They are solid watches! I have said in other comments that they scratch the Submariner itch without breaking the bank. I would be afraid to own a watch that expensive. Watches are meant to be worn and while I still baby all my watches, I don't worry so much if my swinging arm catches a wall. Go to the local wholesale club or Amazon and start again....Lather, rinse, repeat.

I have a black Pro Diver with NH35 movement and it’s a real beater. Usually the watch I bring to vacations since I don’t have to take care of it, easily withstands snorkeling and swimming in pools and the sea. I had a Vostok Amphibia as a beater prior to that and water got in (during its first year of possession), so the Invicta is definitely my biggest bang for the buck.

LilNBern

It's an extremely reliable watch for the price. I have no issues with using it as a daily beater that looks nice, albeit not very original ;) plus Invicta has got the heritage and history, even if the Americans turned the brand into a joke...

Exactly. Invicta is a company with legit watch making history. Even if a lot of their current collection is not to everyone’s taste.

I bought my Invicta Pro Diver 1953 (34333) last April for $88 - it was my first automatic and is still my most-worn watch. The NH35A runs +1.8 seconds per day. The clasp was horrible initially, but has smoothed out over time, and 4 micro adjust holes is great. My endlinks got rattlely after changing out the strap a few times, but stuffing a small amount of foam in them solved the problem 😁… and I love the look of the fully brushed oyster style bracelet. I like the 1953 models because they aren’t trying to mimic a modern Submariner (with the Mercedes hands, cyclops, shiny bezel edge) and don’t have INVICTA etched in the side of the case. As far as value goes, the pro diver kicks Seiko’s butt and still edges out Orient.

My only complaints are the lume and that is that it is a bit tall for a 40mm watch, but most NH35 watches will be that way.

Invicta does not get a bad rap for the Pro Diver - the criticism comes from the deceptive marketing and the monstrosity of many of their other designs.

Hey AFChris. I know that 1953 model you are referring to. I did a review on it a few months ago and was really impressed with it. That works be a fantastic first auto. Enjoy your watch 👍👍

Thanks - I actually watched your review when it came out and agree with your pros and cons. I got lucky and my NH35 keeps great time.

I had the Pepsi model with the jubilee bracelet (ref. 29176), and it was an absolute steal for the 80€ I paid during black friday week. The case, the dial and the hands felt a little higher quality than my chinese homages, which were around the same price. Also, contrary to any other NH35 watch I owned, this one has a decorated rotor thus making it look just a little more exclusive. My 2 major gripes (and the reasons why I sent it back after almost 2 months):

1. The bracelet is an absolute joke. However, due to its 22 mil lug width, you can fit anything you want on this watch. I went with a blue leather strap on the bottom and a red leather on top, to contrast the blue and red bezel. I called it my "harlequin", lol.

2. While having an above average bezel action, the printing on the bezel was slightly misaligned. At first, I didn't mind all that much, but it got worse the more I looked at it, to the point where I had to rotate it 5-10 times a day and balancing the bezel in between the 12 and 1 position like a surgeon.

If you couldn't care less about things mentioned above, then this watch is 100% for you!

Hey Itx_official Thanks for the info. I’ll make sure to take a close look at the bezel when I get it. That’s one of those things someone might not normally notice right away but it would bother me, long term.

Sort of falls into the 'get what you pay for' arena...

Well, I have much better luck on AliExpress for similar prices...😁

Get yourself a Stuhring, the one on the left. It has a Swiss-made movement, is very robust and accurate and it cost me $250 AUD. A much better investment I think

Hi Jr007A. I haven’t checked out Stuhring watches yet. I hear they are a good deal for what you get. The one you mentioned is in a different price point than this ($80) Invicta but it’s still affordable and I’m sure I’ll get around to checking it out and reviewing it sooner or later. Thanks for the suggestion.

·

I was talking about Australian dollars. This one will cost you $110 US dollars. You consider a watch that is $50 more not affordable. For what you are getting, the Stuhrling is better bang for buck.

No, that’s very affordable. I didn’t take into account the exchange rate. Also I generally think anything under $500USD falls into the affordable category.

Bought one pro diver for my son and it stopped working shortly before the warranty ended. Also chunky.
