Which would you pick?

What simple 3 hand, versatile watch would you pick? Pretty similar design, 2 being chronometers and 1 having a reliable ETA based movement. Two are a $800 apart and one more than 2 times as expensive.

Are we talking only white/silver dial? I think the new Longines Conquest is a great looking watch. It’s a bit large at 41mm for a silver dial, but the other colors may visually help win that area. The 34mm I think might wear fine depending on wrist size as the watch appears to have some thicker lugs. If Longines could offer this in a 38mm I think it’d hit that sweet spot for most folks. Don’t think you can go wrong with the other 3 options - just comes down to your own taste and budget 🍻

No. I actually like the green TAG and the blue Tudor and Datejust. Yeah, I really like Longines too.

·

I would also look at Omega Aqua Terra silver teak dial. I think teak dial adds another dimension to the dial, making it stand out more. You can also look at Omega Aqua Terra Shades with silvery dial. It is 38mm. But I like teak dial more.

You almost hit it with the DJ36 smooth bezel. Go one layer of reduction lower: OP36. So simple, so under the radar.

Omega aqua terra shades

Oyster Perpetual. Doesn't have the one eyed monster 👌

·

Tudor Royal

Omega Aqua Terra

·

Nomos Club Sport

If you are going up to Rolex level pricing, I'd pick the Omega Aqua Terra all day long and twice on Sunday. If you are sticking in the sub-$3,000 range, I'd go with the Longines Spirit or the Oris Big Crown Pointer Date.

Maybe a Grand Seiko SBGX263?

But voted for the Datejust anyway (if money ain't the matter). 😉

Yup, adding to the list. I didn’t have a GS cause the ones I was thinking of all have that power reserve on the dial, forgot about the 9F quartz ones.

Spirit 37mm.

For me, going to throw a relatively budget model into the mix. I would save a ton of cash and try....

I think the AT Teak dial (any color) is one of the best 3 handers anywhere. Master chronometer to boot. Super versatile and maybe as close to perfect. I was just too lazy to go find a pic and add, I figured enough people would mention it. ☺️

Rolex is the only one that will hold any real residual value so that gets my vote

Hey GS quartz owners? I have a question. So I have a few quartz watches, all gifts from my mom, and my biggest problem with quartz is the seconds hands not ticking directly on the seconds chapter ring. So does the seconds hand tick on the seconds markers.

Oooo. Very nice. White birch?

Nope, Snowflake SBGA211

Mine does. With slightly domed glasses it depends a bit on the viewing angle, though.

As with all watches: check them out at a local AD, if you can.

Always. It has dedicated spring to keep second hand under tension.

·

The date just if limited to your three options but as I picked other I'd suggest an Aqua Terra.

·

Longines spirit 37mm

·

By far.... AQUA TERRA

Depends on your level of scrutiny. Yes, for the purpose of comparing to any other sub-$1000 quartz, they basically hit all their markers out of the box, unless you get unlucky, or use a very high level of scrutiny. You won’t get $10 quartz type of misalignment behaviors here.

But obviously nothing is perfect, so if a fraction of a fraction of a marker (say, 0.1mm) matters, then no. If you walk into a GS AD you will see that some units will be very slightly off by a hair (literally, less than a width of hair) on maybe half of their marker hits. That’s about as precise as you’re going to make gears at this price.

If you go for the $xx,xxx Citizen 0100 movement units the marker hits are even more precise, but that’s another 5-10x price.

Can confirm, my SBGX259's second Hand is aligned perfectly.

All of them are either ugly or boring. Footnote: Twice as expensive, not 2 times. Apologies for being the grammar police. "twice" may have to be added to the endangered species list.

·

Boring for sure. I like boring I guess. Understated to be nice.
