I might have to rethink quartz.

Earlier today, we were discussing the new Seiko Prospex divers, and as expected there were comments about it being overpriced because of the “terrible” 6R movement. My two Seiko’s with a 6R movement run between +6 to +10 second a day if I wear them daily, so to me they’re not bad, but that’s the kind of accuracy we can expect from a mechanical.

Anyway I’ve not worn my MoonSwatch but a handful of times, it’s one of 3 quartz watches I own. The other two I’ve probably not worn in 20 years (both gifts). I probably haven’t worn the Moonswatch in the past year and a half and it’s been tucked in a box, mostly because the strap is super uncomfortable and it’s quartz.

Well I just changed the strap to a comfortable FKM and just put it on. Then I checked to see if I need to reset the time, and guess what, it’s 10 seconds fast! I remember setting it maybe a year and a half ago. Crazy and it’s not even a high accuracy quartz.

Looks good on the strap.

Have you considered Eco-Drive or other solar-powered quartz movements? Quartz accuracy without worrying about battery changes every few years.

Thanks. I was hesitant to change the god awful strap to keep it original and never wear it but I’ve seen so many posts with MoonSwatches with cool straps so I finally changed it out today.

I had an eco drive and a Bulova Precisionist, gave them away, I didn’t like the designs especially the Precisionist. But I really like their new 262K and as far as Citizen they have a lot of designs and likely one I find appealing. So yeah I think I’ll take another look at them, plus so much cheaper 😊.

Yes, some of the modern Bulova designs leave me feeling meh, and Citizen offers a lot of licensed property junk, but the Bulova Archives releases are nice, like the Lunar Pilot and Computron, and you can't go wrong with the Citizen Promaster line; lots of great options there.

I have that same watch and mine is great on accuracy even by quartz standards.
