Well done @Kalsota 🥳🎉
It's Mother's Day over here in the UK, so time for me to do some guilt free chilling to some of these YouTube videos ☕
Thanks for the amazing write up again @Mr.Santana 🍻 You are a star ⭐
If watches return to their level of functional items for you, then these two nail that.
I don't buy purely on "Its shiny and new, I want it" any more. I buy watches with a story behind them.
Microbrands created with passion, refurbished pieces done with love and auction pieces that will actually do some good in the world, like the charity ones run on here, are the way to go for me now.
By spending my watch money on these types of watches I know I'm supporting good people doing good things.
I hope you are feeling better my friend 🍻 Don't be a stranger.
It sounds like you want a really special watch for this occasion, so I guess the question is, what does 'really special' mean to you?
It sounds like you want something limited and exclusive, and like the Bel Canto has lost its shine now, because it'll be on the wrists of thousands of folks by this point.
However, for Bel Canto money I don't think you will get any more special in my eyes.
EVERYONE at the British Watchmakers event yesterday wanted to see one and there were queues just to try it on. It still absolutely has something special about it.
If you want that same special feeling for the same kind of price you need to go vintage I think.
Since I've actually started going to these events and meeting owners in person, the people behind the brands has started to matter a lot more to me.
Knowing the human beings behind the designs, their passions and creative influences that they have poured into their watches.... it adds a whole other layer to the joy of watch ownership to me.
I don't know how much it cost.
It was on the wrist of another Cruncher and Garrick weren't there in the day, so it felt rude to ask.
It was a custom built piece.
It sounds like Christopher Ward has some really exciting stuff coming up this year. They just keep blowing it out of the park with each release, so I'm really excited to see what's next.
Can you imagine... a VAT bill alone of £130,000 🤣
It was a great day, but exhausting.
I think I preferred the microbrand event we went to at Heathrow in some ways.
It was nice getting there early and being able to chat to brands in piece.
Yesterday was a scrumb.
