Scavenger Hunt: The Grand Finale
Dr. Aurelian pours himself a drink and sits back in his chair.
The Red Queen's image flickers on the screen...
"You will not succeed in this plan doctor. They have survived all of your previous attempts to stop them reaching the surface and they will fight this hallucination as they did the others."
The doctor smiles as he watches the CCTV screen. The team remains unconscious in the elevator. "Not this time my dear." He takes another drink.
"Despite your intellect and resources, doctor, you have been completely unable to contain them. I have provided them with all the information they require to break this hallucination, and they will succeed."
The Doctor rolls his eyes "You know what? I kept you around to keep things interesting, but I'm bored now."
He leans forward and types a few lines on the computer in front of him and presses delete...
The Red Queen disappears and the screen goes blank.
The doctor smiles and returns his gaze back to the CCTV screens in front of him. His eyes move from the image of the team, unconscious in the elevator, to the image of the Eschatron 9000, activated by the group during one of their hallucinogenic states, visible on another screen. The countdown is now at 12 hours.
He smiles, feeling secure in the knowledge that his lab will be safe from the upcoming explosion, but the mall above was not.
A movement on the screen showing the elevator catches his eye...
