Hi all!
I'm Silas. I'm a budding watch nerd that purchased his first Seiko turtle about three years ago...and it's all been downhill from there!
My "collection" currently is a few auto Seikos and a few Casio digital staples. I love function over form. The more over-designed and robust, the better! I'm not nice to anything I own so taking a beating is key for me. The current "grail" watch for me is a Tudor Heritage Black Bay 36. I also wouldn't mind an old Air King either 😉. I hope I can treat myself to one of those someday soon!
I fell hard into this hobby because I'm a numbers nerd that loves to see how the sausage is made...so to speak! Getting to know reference numbers, movements, sources of those movements, what families brands are under, grabbing the best bang for buck piece etc. just sparks my brain in a lovely way. My collection also includes a few sentimental pieces that from some very special people I never actually got to meet but am honored to represent them on my wrist from time to time. I hope some of my pieces will do the same thing for someone else (hopefully a very long time from now!).
My other passions are music (I'm a working musician with a closet full of gear), whiskey (another closet full of bottles and my day job is in the industry), and cars. You probably could have guessed those three from the last paragraph...I guess I'm predictable!
I'm excited to be here! Niche hobby forums can be a nasty, gatekeeping, toxic place sometimes so I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little nervous. But from my poking around here the last couple months, I don't see a lot of that which gives me a lot of hope! I'm usually a lurker on forums so but I'm looking forward to speaking with some of you and expanding my knowledge on this beautiful hobby.

Just a closeted watch nerd with no one to talk to about it. I love overbuilt, functional, and then stylish watches. I’m not nice to anything I own so it must survive!

Thank you very much! It's just a flashy snippet of it! Most of my others are posted on here in exponentials I'm sure. A Casio CA-53W, G Shock 5600, F91W, some 80's Seiko quartz stuff...I don't discriminate too hard.

It's probably the one I want to wear most right now but I don't have a lot of outfits that match it 😂
That was a lucky eBay grab a few years ago at the beginning of me catching the watch bug. They're JDM watches from my understanding and I found that one in the US for dirt cheap. The OEM bracelet was comically small so I didn't wear it until I found that perfect color NATO a few weeks ago. It was a BEAR to get on but totally worth it.
