Help! I need a tiny strap!

Hello all!

My wedding was yesterday. It was truly the best day of my life. I decided to splurge and got my wife a lovely vintage 26mm Rolex Datejust. She has maybe a 5.5 in wrist so this thing looks perfect on her. It was my first time using the eBay Authenticity Guarantee and authentication program and the be jeweler I bought it from was top notch. Definitely an experience I would recommend to anyone!

Here’s the sad part. In the post-wedding bliss of this afternoon, my wife put it on and wore it. That first picture is it on her wrists…moments before disaster. Not an hour later, the strap snapped as pictured! Luckily it was in the car and it landed in her lap.

Now first things first, I am not pointing a finger of blame at the dealer. It’s a non original, and (apparently) chintzy strap that I actually used as a bargaining chip to talk the price down 😅. For the price we settled on, it was honestly comparable to watches sold without a strap. I thought I was getting a deal…I guess karma works in mysterious ways.

So my question! What now? This watch has a 13mm lug width…google is not turning up a lot of promising or reliable results for straps. She said she wouldn’t mind a steel bracelet so I could go vintage Rolex and get a jubilee but they are on the rare side and a little pricey.

Do any of you have an recommendations or sources on itty bitty 13mm lug width straps? What’s the best move? I want to get this gorgeous thing on my gorgeous wife and show it and her off!

Thank you for reading this far!

Hey there! I also have a 5.5 in wrist like your wife. I have been getting my straps from this Etsy seller-

This guy can customize the strap to her wrist size, desired lug width, stitch colors, etc.

I have found 13mm straps for my wife's watches on Amazon from Hadley-Roma, but that was really the only brand for a strap. Strapsco does have 13mm jubilee bracelets if a bracelet would work better.

Congrats on your wedding. That was a lovely gift for your wife, but sorry to hear of the issue with the strap. Very good that no damage was done.

I would agree with @lla2891 that going through a custom strap maker would be the way to go. Pricier than the usual strap suppliers, but you get to choose the material and color, and if you choose the right strap maker, will come away with a much better strap as well. I've got a couple of straps from Aaron Bespoke out of Montreal, and am very pleased with his quality product.

I bought a strap on Amazon by a seller called Vinacreations (Vietnam Creations) for my Longines dress watch. I’m not sure they have odd sizes but they do have 14mm. I’ve found the quality of the one I bought to be very good.

My go-to is https://www.etsy.com/shop/TunsLeather for high quality bespoke straps at a fair price.

Just last week I received a 12mm lug width strap I had them custom make for my partner and, as always, it turned out flawless. Immaculate stitching and sealing despite being such a tiny strip of leather.

I just ordered two more straps from them as soon as I noticed they are doing a -25% sale.
