Watches worn on a 1st Date! ⌚️

Helloooo Watch Crunchers!

I saw a video on YouTube discussing watches to wear on a 1st date. Watching it, I thought it was comical and ridiculous, but then I got to thinking, I’m sure people do wear a specific watch on a 1st date believing it will portray a certain personna to the individual they’re courting.

When my partner and I went on our first date, I wore my swatch watch.

Image

I typically wear it to remind me to have fun, and not take things seriously.

While I would say no one really pays attention to the watch you’re wearing, does this apply when you’re going on a date? I know women tend to look at men’s shoes (confirmed by my partner), but are they also paying attention to your watch?

If I was in the dating market, I imagine I’d probably wear a discreet watch that doesn’t draw attention. But who knows 🤷🏻‍♂️

Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts.

I mean this is the standard on every date I go on. Some times 3 in one day!

I feel like such an idiot wearing gold-plated Cuban link bracelets on the sides of my watch instead of buying a watch that has them built-in. 😢

I've told this story many a time before, but when I was single and in my early 30's, I wore Kenneth Cole Reaction watches. Like this...

Image

At one point, the gal I was out with specifically said, "You know, you always have the coolest watches."

That night... magic happened...

Not flashy, understated yes, sophisticated not in my case, I scratched my head for ages with this one. Its been a while for me. My mum said nice shoes, wash and look clean, smell nice but don't overdo it with the aftershave and LISTEN . Anniversary tomorrow 22 years !

This might work.

@Mr.Dee.Bater @Schiffers @rusbro1 I’m starting to think I’ve been doing it wrong all these years. If I’m ever single again, ima wear my Kenneth Cole watch to every date!

I usually wear a discrete 37mm silver dial dressy style watch I built myself. Nothing big and in-your-face, nothing that screams money and trying too hard. Most times women do notice it and since I built the watch it makes for a cool little story to tell.

Post a pick of it. Would love to see

I was probably wearing a G-shock...or some sort of field watch. Whatever it was, it's long gone. The "first date" is still here though, so I got that going for me!

That’s how it’s done!

It wasn't a date but I was at friends birthday party 10 years ago and ended up sitting across from his sister...who is gorgeous. It became obvious we were checking each other out. I was wearing one of my nice bespoke suits, she was wearing a designer dress, she was wearing a Daytona, I was wearing my Speedmaster. She lost interest in me when she saw my $20 Kenneth Cole wallet that I got from Macy's, lol. I had been going back and forth between that wallet and a really nice money clip. No big loss for me though. I found out later she was a VP for CitiGroup, lived in Manhattan, enjoyed living the high life, and had an attitude to match. Ten years later I'm still using that Kenneth Cole wallet, lol

I’m noticing every story in here involves Kenneth Cole.

The whole people don’t pay attention to your wrist is kind of bullshit. Sure, many might not but a lot prob do. People are always studying other people it’s just that they might not care to say anything about it. That said, I def think a date is a situation will someone will be studying you up and down and the choice of watch can be important . . . Of course it depends on the date and their background but some watches might be a turn off or send the wrong impression *cough, cough* Rolex haha. Of course, you just have to read the room.

Does Drakkar Noir make a watch?

Hey, if it's shark repellent, I may need to upgrade my wallet. My man was wearing a bespoke suit and wearing a Speedy. And she turned her nose up at your wallet? Sounds like you dodged a bullet.

Does Drakkar Noir make a watch?

Hahahha, that's two words I haven't heard in 20y

·

I wore this on 1st date with my wife, it was on a blue leather strap back then. Cheapest watch I own but I love it.

Image
·

As long as it is not an oversized flashy monster or microscopic small watch any watch is fine... doesn't matter, not important... the rest is important, clothes, shoes, etc...

She turned you into a newt???

Wow, and I thought it only happened in Monty Python movies...

·

Women look at a lot of things. Shoes can be one. Teeth is often another. With watches, I think the rule of thumb is to treat it like clothing; wear a watch that suits your look. Not your personality, per se, but your overall look. If you're 6'5" and built like a brick %$#^house, and are getting around in tight polo shirts and casual pants, you'd be mad not to have a big diver on your wrist. If you're slight and wearing a tailored three piece suit, you'd be equally mad not to wear a %$^#-off dress watch. It's not rocket science.

Treat the watch as an extension of your look.
