B…because I can at least afford some of those brands.

·

I like JLC and only JLC in your Richemont list, but multiple brands in swatch.

I admire Swatch group's ability to have competitive brands in pretty much every segment in the market. Not easy in any industry.

·

VC, ALS, Cartier, JLC vs Breguet, Omega, GO

Richemont for me.

·

Well if i just counted the brands I like, then it's 6/4 in favor of Richemont. Can I afford many of those brands, particularly ALS and VC?, No.

·

No contest, Swatch group all day long.

·

Likeability definitely Richemont, if what we can actually buy we know where we stand🤣

·

It has to be Richmont for me, currently own A Lange, IWC, JLC pieces. Will visit Geneva again in July, can’t wait⭐️

·

Swatch Group technically has more brands under its portfolio that i’m interested in. but i voted for Richemont because my weighted vote goes to them because they have my favourite brand: A. Lange & Söhne.

·

I like Richemont a little better, though they are unaffordable. Of the listed brands I only own a Certina (but isn't Oris also a Swatch brand?)

Oris has been independent since the early 80s.

·

I'm an Omega fan boy.... And I voted A. Because Vacheron, A. Lange & Söhne, Cartier and Panerai are all up there with my all time favourites.

·

too many brands I have no respect for in Richemont. can't say the same about swatch group, and I'm a huge breguet/blancpain/omega fanboy

·

Would be an easy win for Richemont (Vacheron Constantin, A. Lange & Söhne, Panerai, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Baume & Mercier...) over Swatch (Blancpain, Glashütte Original, Omega) - but GO has a special place for me, so I call it a tie :)

·

For me, 'favorite brand' means I spent money or another asset to acquire something from the brand.

I am likely to only spend money on one of the brands listed, so B.

·

I guess group A got more of my dough in the past.. but I didn't think of it that way when it happened. And it would still likely happen that way in the future as well... also, you might need to add the "independents" or "family-owned"

I messed up my vote 😭 for me it's B hands down. Also because they are the ones I can afford but also because I like more individual brands within the group.

Which brands do you not have respect for in Richemont Group? You definitely like ALS as you have a gen 1 datograph pic in your profile!

·

Hands down Richemont - ALS my fav, Cartiery first ever mechanical watch, JLC my second watch!, VC my latest acquisition that I just can't take off. B&M a bit underappreciated, but that Riviera is a solid competitor to the Ingenieur. IWC don't love, but I am intrigued about the Ingenieur... Less flashy than the other genta watches.

Swatch Group - I do like swatches. Simple, cheap, below the radar. My simple all black swatch is money. Plus the moon swatch is fun. Omega, yes please. Breguet I don't love the style myself, but I do think they're undervalued.

·

50-50 I would say

·

Seiko watch corporation.

·

Swatch mostly bc I can actually entertain those brands . . . Although a Lange Saxonia copper blue is my planned exit watch.

·

I looked at A and thought "Pfft this is a no brainer" and when I looked at B I had what can only be described as air slowly leaving a balloon escape my lips. 😅

Ultimately went with A because VC, AL&S, JLC, Cartier, IWC and Piaget hold vast amounts of aspirational cache to me. Panerai and RD to some extent as well but that's just unfulfilled potential currently.

·

I didn’t bite right, I was trying to read the whole post. B.

·

It’s kind of split, because both have 3 to 4 Maisons that I would happily frequent and buy multiple watches from. But I think the Richmont Group has more brands I would prefer owning timepieces from such as A. Lange & Söhne, IWC, JLC, and Vacheron Constantin. I love Omega & Glashütte Original too. And hell, there are plenty of used Brequet’s I would love to own. Same with Blancpain- but not many brand new from the AD. I think that’s why Richmont Group wins for me. There are multiple watches from all four of the Richmont brands I listed that I would buy in a heartbeat.

IWC: 1. they fake being busy at their boutique (once is more than enough), 2. they sponsor Merc F1, 3. overpriced pieces for modified ETAs and Vj7750s that they call "in house"

Panerai: just not for me, also the fake watches/movements was pretty bad

ALS: (I know surprise surprise) there was one SA who turned me off completely. I wanted to talk about the special Richard Lange model but he just kept nagging me on placing a deposit before they increase prices. Also fake demand like Rolex but wannabe Rolex. Their models don't all sell out, don't give me that BS. They have no pieces in stock but they say "oh with a full deposit, we can guarantee your piece here by X". If they were in such high demand, why are secondary market prices still thousands below retail (excluding the one offs, Odysseus, etc)

Van Cleef: also fake busy

Montblanc: walked into boutique, 3 female SA's all sitting in the back on their phone, not one word from them. Also I hate that they took the Minerva factory. Minerva deserves better

Cartier: kind of a stolen point from a Theo and Harris video but their recent best sellers in steel are nothing extraordinary other than riding on the coattails of their history and hype. I almost got the Santos SS med cuz of hype, glad I didn't. I would be really upset at how fragile and basically useless the bezel is

Lol, some of these are quite entertaining. IWC I agree. I popped into the boutique this week just to see if I could have a peek at a Ingenieur, but yeah that watch is surprisingly popular. I thought surely the price would've pit people off. The same movement as the b&m Riviera, but maybe they modify )they're never clear).

I'm surprised with your ALS experience. They've never pushed me to put a deposit. They were persistent, but that's fine. Comparing their sales approach to Rolex is a bit extreme. Yes, for Odysseus, you need purchase history, but that's supply and demand. They don't produce that mamy watches. 5k is the estimate I see used vs 50k for AP and 60k for PP. At least where I am, I had to put a deposit down to get into a queue for my Lange 1 time zone and I got it in reasonable time eg 4 months or so. I am biased towards ALS I have to admit though.

Don't know about the others, but for Cartier I do like their retro design, but one is enough for me. At least they're not "fashion house" like as someone tried to create a new term.

·

Oh that's easy for me, here's what i see

A: Vacheron Constantin, Cartier, Jaeger-LeCoultre

vs

B: Blancpain, Omega, Longines, Rado, Tissot, Certina, Mido, Hamilton, Swatch

·

I don't care much about Breguet, Harry Winston or Glashütte Original, but Longines and Omega are two absolute pillars of the watch world

·

I choose Swatch because it's my favorite watches.
