So with 2022 coming to a shuddering end...and here in America, the government is seeking to further devalue the US dollar by passing a massive inflationary spending bill...
It's given me pause to think about what is going to happen in the upcoming year.
Declining stock market, record levels of inflation, rocketing interest rates, swooning home values, and rapidly diminished consumer savings...and numerous Hoovervilles of immigrants in all the major US cities...
NYC 1932...
NYC 2022...
It seems like our hobby verges on triviality when confronted with the challenges facing people across the globe.
On reflection, I'm thinking 2023 will be a year where I take a break from purchasing anything new (or vintage). I still have a few watches coming in 2023 that were already paid for as pre-orders, but no more in the coming year.
So, what's your resolution?
MOAR WACHEZ!
Its rarely a bad thing to be fiscally conservative in one’s own life, so I can see spending less on watches. But it’s funnier to just shout about buying even more watches I don’t need.

In regards to watches for 2023?
-To sell/trade get down to nine or ten watches in preparation for getting the Panda Daytona.
-To not buy any watches, period, until I get the call for the Panda Daytona...even if it takes a few years. If I do get the call for it, sell watches to pay for it if I haven't already.
Basically I only want to buy one more watch till the year I retire (somewhere between 2026 and 2028). At that point, I'll get my retirement watch.
In regards to other hobbies, to not buy anything in those either. Basically, next year is going to be about not buying things that are just for me that I don't need. The only exception being the Panda Daytona cause I'm not going to say no if I get the call.
Create and begin to execute an exit plan to transition to another career/semi retirement in next while. Live life without all the corporate stuff.
i just need one more watch in 2023 either swiss chronograph or some nice swiss or microbrand gada watch. finger's crossed

How do I get into your watch crew? Like is there an application or something?

I bet the waiting list is longer than Rolex.

Just crossing my singers I’m high enough on the list to get in by next Christmas.

Save money for...well, it'll probably for some years or see if any of my financial nest eggs hatch. If they do, I'll put a part of it into watches, if not, just slug on. And saving for the inevitable repairs and servicing.
I'm not buying any more white/grey/black/teal dial watches. My watch box needs some color in it.
I'm also committed to not breaking the $1000 limit with a single watch purchase. Of course, ordering a bracelet as a separate transaction a month later is a workable loophole...
US Government:
As for 2023 watch goals...I have a few pieces in mind, but really want to consolidate some of the hoard first!

I'm right behind you, mate.
Put more in the Speedy Savings Account than I spend on other watches by buying one or none watches.
