If you could have any watch during the apocalypse, what is it and why?

There is no price range for this. I'm just curious to hear your thoughts on the watch you would wear!!

Im thinking my BB54. Is a compact and subtle BEAST

·

G Shock…I’m waiting for the G-Shock equipped with a chainsaw or lasers 🤣

·

I thought I'm weird because that's the exact same question I'm asking myself sometimes😂. I'd probably pick a Daytona 126500LN. It's a durable watch and timing some things would probably come in handy. What would you wear Christopher?

·

A steel Marathon Navigator. If the apocalypse lasts longer that the battery, knowing the exact time likely isn't all that critical.

I would take a Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic Chronograph (day/date), and if I had a second option it would be @KristianG’s answer but I couldn’t remember the name of the watch, so a Marathon Navigator is my second choice😂

·

Seiko Arnie. Combat tested*

😅

·

Something with a solar quartz movement. Super accurate and will last for a long long time.

·

My Marathon GSAR, automatic no need for battery, tritium tubes for lume, so no need for sun, and all round tough as nails, plus it looks cool. 😎

Awesome watch man!!

·

What exactly do you need the time for if there’s no Civilisation left?

·

A G shock definitely

·

Marathon GSAR to sync with my wife’s GSAR in order to execute post-EMP stealthy survival missions 😁

“Stealthy post-EMP survival missions” ✅

Word order was irking me 😕

·

G-ShockGWM5610u . Solar powered.

·

Casio G-Shock GW-5000u

If the apocalypse involves EMP bursts or nuclear weapons, electronic watches that have not been protected by a Faraday cage will probably not function. In that case, mechanical wins.

Most batteries are resistant to the effects of an EMP. Your digital watch would be fine.

·

Citizen sattelite because it's eco drive so no need for a battery at least for a very long time plus there's the satellite function that will provide accurate time. IDK what for but it will be there.

·

Casio G Shock with solar.

·

Citizen ‘The Citizen’ Quartz watch with the calibre 0100. The most accurate watch ever made loosing 1 second per year. I would be the grand master of time and the only person that actually knew the time (also light powered so now need for a battery)

To know what time the Zombies waken up! Obviously 🙄

·

Casio Rangeman 9400. It does most everything I might get down to needing a watch to do and could survive very harsh conditions.

·

Depends on what type of apocalypse we're taling about. If it's a, say, zombie apocalypse, then the Seiko Arnie, because then I'd really like to feel like an action movie star. Either that or a G-Shock (obviously)

Of my current watches in thinking the promaster tough.

Or maybe my sne435 hydromod

The seiko...that omega is "fugly"

·

G-Shock 6900. Bring it on! 💪

The battery is the last thing I’d worry about. The other components are more sensitive. If there are no integrated circuits in them, then quartz watches may be OK.

What sort of apocalypse are we talking here? If it's zombies, then I'd take a Hublot Classic Fusion chronograph. In titanium, it's still heavy and big enough to be used as a blunt force weapon. I'd tie it to the end of a long stick with the lugs oriented outwards for maximum rip and tear action.

In all honesty, no matter what apocalypse it is, it'd probably be this Camy Club-Star, although several watches in my collection could fill this role. Here's why:

Image
  1. The FHF ST 96 mechanical movement is immune to EMP blasts and is bulletproof. Spares are also abundant.

  2. Servicing if it goes bust is easy. It's still running on its original oils from the '70s, so that likely won't happen.

  3. The stainless steel case will fare well against the elements provided I keep it somewhat clean.

  4. The acrylic crystal won't shatter.

  5. It's accurate enough.

  6. It's stylish, so when I meet with other survivors, I will be looking sharp. (Yes, I have a special weatherproof case where I keep a sport coat and pressed trousers in the event of emergency.)

When everythings gone to... er... mess, I believe simplicity will be key. I probably won't last very long in the apocalypse, because that means that the liquor shop and watch boutiques are left unguarded. The zombies or mercenaries or terrorists or radiation will find me passed out in aisle four of some bottle store wearing a (raided) Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse on my right wrist. I'll be one of the first to go.

“Ryan, beta radiation is dangerous!”

“I know science, beta radiation is better than gamma rays, so I'll evacuate later; that corpse has the key to the glass cabinet where they keep the expensive booze. We'll meet up in about fifteen minutes.”
