So, how many real diver's do you own?

With the new #diverwatches badge I went to check how many ISO certified diver's I own and the answer is not a lot. I do have watches like the Zelos Horizons GMT that do look like a diver's and even has a screw down crown and 200m WR, I have other watches that can definitively be used for diving, such as the Vostok Amphibia or Yema Supermans, but ISO certified diver's? Just two: the Marathon MSAR and the Seiko SPB147. TBH, it's not even the style of watches that I like the most. Am I the only one who doesn't really care a lot about ISO certified divers? Do you like dive watches and if you do are WR rating or ISO certification important?

It's true that the majority of my watches are Divers(style or look), but I think I only have two that are ISO certified.

·

I think my one citizen pro master is iso rated. It feels like it'll take to the water with ease.

·

Only my skx

·

Couldn't care less about ISO. My splashing around in a pool isn't going to bother my Vostoks.

·

I'm assuming zero. It's one 100m Sturhling, so I doubt it. Don't care to investigate further. Watch is too big anyway.

·

Out of the three dive watches I own, I only have my solar Seiko that’s ISO rated

·

I have 1 ISO certified watch. If I did not intentionally look for other styles I think I would mainly have dive style watches.

·

I only have the one, my SKX007

·

Out of 10 watches 2 are divers and one is a real diver. But i‘m planning to add more and i don‘t care if it is certified or not.

·

It wasn't on purpose, but all of my divers are ISO certified: Certina DS Action Diver (38mm), Willard, and a Citizen Orca.

·

No divers, real or feigned

·

I have 1, but is it ISO certified? I think so. Casio Duro. It's ruined me for other Divers. I actually can't justify spending fortunes on something that only does the same job. Tried a Black Bay, and a Pelagos, I just thought, "this is pointless"😂

Which, great news, inadvertently led me to spend my hard-earned on other genres.

I love divers. I have seven (nine if you count the 200m G-SHOCK and the 5KX "dive style" (100m) watches. That being said, my OEM turtle is my only ISO certified diver, and if I'm going swimming, I usually wear it or the square G. My watches are a lot more likely to see rain, and not so much submersion, so it doesn't bother me too much if they are 100m, 200m, or ISO certified.

·

I have just one diver, an Alpha by Nite Watches. Funny, I don't like them very much but there are loads here on WatchCrunch and all over creation. My first watch as a nine year old kid was a small diver....lol!

No ISO certified divers here, but even the Tudor Pelagos FXD isn’t ISO certified, and I would have a hard time NOT calling that a dive watch.

I have the Oris Aquis, which I believe could be ISO if Oris paid the fee.

·

Not important at all. Most likely will never go diving…

But I guess it’s still cool to have.

·

2 divers, only one ISO certified, despite I don’t care so much about ISO, but is the watch I most wear.

Citizen Promaster NY0040 (ISO) and Bulova Marine Star (WR 100m)

·

Wait! There's a dive watch badge? 🤔

·

I have 3 in my collection (300m). Not sure about ISO certification but I have not even worn them in shower yet…

·

I have a few divers but would guess that none are ISO certified. And to be perfectly honest, I'm OK with that.

Many of us fall in love with the idea of taking these watches on a deep sea, maritime adventure, but the reality is that, for the great majority of us, a swimming pool or a snorkelling trip is about as close as we're going to get to this.

Yep, it was added a few days ago I think.

·

My one and only diver is a Seiko PADI Solar. I call it the Seiko Smurf. Am I in the club?

Not yet. The cool kid's corner is over there in the far corner, just don't mention solar or quartz and you should be OK.

I own an SKX 007 and a King Turtle and both are certified. I love divers love the idea of it and I don’t really care about certifications. If they have it, they have it. If not, it’s ok.

I have a couple of G-Shocks too and if they’re considered divers too then I have more than 2. Lol

·

My only "real" diver is an omega planet ocean.. but any of my twsteel, casio, rolex and timex arent afraid to get a dip or two now and then

Oh, I have plenty of watches with a water resistance of 200 meters or better, even my Nomos Ahoi is such a watch. I was just curious about how an official ISO 6425 certification or the lack of it is an important factor in the purchase decision process of buying a diving watch.

It's pretty much my own opinion. At some point in my life I did have a diving license and used to SCUBA. But even then I didn't wear a "real" diver's watch. I can't remember exactly what I used but it was something like the Casio Duro or MRW-200, cheap to the point of being disposable, useful and with enough WR to handle dives which where mostly 10-30 meters deep.

Good question. I have a TOTAL of 3 divers:

1. Baltic Aquascaphe

2. Citizen Promaster Eco-Drive (ISO)

3. Seiko SPB143 (ISO)

The promaster was a gift from my wife for our wedding. Love the look of the watch, but I do wish it was smaller. It’s not something I would inherently buy nowadays given it’s size. If left to my own devices, I would only own the SPB143 and the Baltic. The seiko being a dedicated tool watch. And the Baltic being more of a dress-diver. For the record, I have taken a scuba-diving class and brought my 143 with me; Held up fine.

For me personally, divers offer a lot of character, practicality, and diversity a lot of other watches simply lack. My lifestyle requires me to always have something waterproof given how humid, and rainy it can be where I live. While yes a 10 bar patek can handle this, the added security and confiedence I get with a sturdy diver is unparalleled. And hey they look really good too. Never out of place except in certain specific situations.
