Solar Quartz 👍or👎?

I don't care much for Quartz watches. Not that I have anything against them or that I think they are inferior in any way, I'm just not drawn to them. I give Quartz a try every so often but most watches last a couple of months in my collection. That said, I think this one is sticking around long term. I don't know what it is exactly, maybe the matt black jubilee, maybe it reminds me of #porschedesign but this #momentum Eclipse feels special.

I'm a quartz man. Too lazy to keep setting the time on mechanical watches

Keeping it honest, I respect that.

Very nice 👌

I’m loving the solar style of Venturian WildSider

I like both, and both have a lot to offer. But if all of my 30+ watches needed to go in for a mechanical service it would be very unmanageable financially.

Yup, low maintenance costs are definitely a huge perk!

Oh? What is this? I need to check this brand out, I didn't hear of them before.

Look at a Grand Seiko Quartz. Exceeds the craftsmanship of so many mechanical watches with a far more accurate movement.

·

For my job/personal interests solar quartz is often the best and indeed only option. Not so much for time keeping, but for what a (digital) quartz brings to the game. I have some very rugged automatics, but I’m not going into the back country without my Seiko.

Yes, that's what the brain says. But we don't always use our brains, do we? 🙈

What all does a digital watch offer over a mechanical that you actually use? I'm not asking to say that quartz is inferior or something, I qm genuinely interested in what features you use that often that you prefer digital quartz.

Solar quartz is awesome. I bought the Seiko Solar Sumo GMT last year, but hope to see more new solar quartz GMT’s using the 5k65 movement, as well as more new solar quartz calibers in general.

I had my eye on this one too, but the colorways are not to my liking unfortunately. I hope they add some more colors or as you suggested make more models using this movement.

No we don't and that fine....We really don't always want to be that mechanical and rational/logical as it would make life very very boring..... :-)

When I buy quartz, I always go solar 😎

Love solar quartz. I'd like to see more swiss brands explore this (Tag Heuer killed it).

Killed it as in “ended it completely” or “did it super awesomely”

Man that Tag looks really really nice 🤩

I'm still relatively new to watches. 7 of my 8 are quartz (none solar)and the 8th is a family heirloom 1960s omega. Honestly I don't think I need more quartz.. except a solar one!

Solar, high accuracy and high quality would be nice.

But really I think my next watch will be a mechanical chronograph.

·

Got this high accuracy quartz for just over 200 CAD. Accurate to +/- 10 secs a year

This is their Dolce line, very underrated!

I have two quartz.

A gshock which serves as my beater and a solar casio which serves as my casual watch

·

That’s a nice looking watch, that might be the one to get you to change your mind about quartz.

·

Love my Seaquartz.

Oh that looks like a watch that would wear me. I have the small wrist syndrome 😢

Sorry to hear about that.

I’m kind of a slight worst case scenario kind of person you never know it will come in handy when you least expected.
