Tissot PRX Powermatic80

When everyone says highly of the tissot PRX powermatic for its value for bucks proposition for some reason I don't really feel the connect with this watch. May be it's me, just wanted to know the opinion of watch nerds.

I feel the same way. I can’t knock the watch objectively or subjectively. It’s aesthetically and mechanically nice. I’m considering it as a gift for someone I love. It’s just not something I care to own.

It’s actually nice to encounter something I don’t have to add to my wish list.

·

I have tried one on along with a gentleman and I liked the gentleman much more.

Though I still think it is nice and understand why others like it.

·

It’s a nice looking watch, on someone else. I tried it on, I don’t remember if it was comfortable but I did not like it one bit.

It may have some history and it may have been re-introduced, I don’t rightly know but it came back at the height of “integrated bracelet” fever and at an affordable price, a fraction of the prices for the models that fueled the hype (Nautilus, Royal Oak).

It’s not as ubiquitous as the Apple Watch, but I’ve seen a ton of the them in public. It’s just not for me.

I’ve told myself I can’t make a true judgement call until I’ve had the piece on wrist. When I came across this piece I gave it a try & something didn’t click for me either. I’ve loved it in pictures but it wasn’t for me after all. No worries though, we all have different tastes.

Nothing wrong with respecting a watch for what it is and it not being for you. Totally fine.

I have the blue face Auto and I have fallen in love with it.

I guess the idea of it being a touch of luxury adds to the attraction but not so much for the flex but more for the personal satisfaction of knowing I earned it and stil didn’t cost me an arm and a leg to obtain.

Do you thing you will feel the same way if you changed the strap to leather?

And you narrow down the reason you don’t feel connected with that watch?

Identifying the specifics for me makes it my decision on it easier.

Good luck 🍀

Beautiful watch

·

Love this watch for the size and price

·

I think the value proposition is in the PRX quartz.

·

If everyone loved every watch that was a great value, we’d all have the exact same watch collection and that would take a lot of fun out of watches.

Right may be the next time I am at a tissot outlet I will try the band version of it to see if it makes any sent on my view towards the watch! And I definitely agree watch collection is more for self than the flex culture.

Luckily we are all still free to like what we want 😅. I have the blue quartz PRX but it does not get a lot of wrist time, today for instance I wear the Hamilton Khaki Pilot, also quartz! I must say that when I wear the PRX to the office, the ladies always comment on it in a positive way, just saying 😅😅😅

I have gone through that phase as well in csome brand 38mm sits well when is other I have to look out for log to log even I have decided to go for something only after I get to try it . But don't you think this makes it even difficult some watches are only online some are difficult to find nearby. But definitely agree with your point.

Never a fan of incorporated bracelet watches. The 70’s look is not appealing to me. The waffle dial is a bit boring, the italic lettering for the model number don’t match the Tissot font and make the dial look like a corporate branded giveaway present. Stepping down the beat rate to 3Hz for better power management take away from the hypnotic floating sweep that I am so fond of.

·

We don't bond with everything, and there isn't a good explanation why. Put it down for a while and try again later; if you still don't bond with it then move on.

·

I tried one and did not like like it at all. I bought the v8 gentlemen

·

I just tried one on in a shop the other day thinking I’d walk out with it. Left with my travel timex still on my wrist. I love the watch just not on me I guess.

·

I read somewhere that it has plastic parts in the movement and it couldn’t be serviced. Not sure if that’s accurate but it kind of killed it for me.

·

The lug-to-lug of 41mm is way too large for my wrist. I have not tried the 35mm

·

The PRX Chronograph is the actual real deal.

·

I really want to love the PRX, regardless of the hype. It is a striking watch and offers a great value for the msrp. I purchased one and ended up disappointed with the way it wore. The watch always felt like i was trying to fill a space of a watch i couldnt afford or find, be it an audemars, patek, ingeneurs, etc. i really wanted to love it, but ended up parting ways with it via ebay.

·

I think the quartz PRX punches well above its weight which in turn brings tremendous value to the consumer. Finishing touches are 🔝 esp for price. The overall package of this watch for the price is making me think twice about every other watch under $1K

·

I think it’s beautiful and would love to own one. But it’s okay to want what you want and love what you love.

·

I love my blue dial PRX Auto. Wearing it now as a matter of fact. It has a 70’s throwback but also leans toward an 80’s vibe that none of my other watches have.

·

The 40mm didn't feel like it was the right fit for me, but I haven't tried the 35mm yet. That said, I think I might get an Autodromo Group B instead when their next wave drops this summer.

·

Design is good but really a homage... i wasnt that impressed about the movement though so i passed...

·

Had one. Sold it. ‘Nuff said.

·

Try it on a strap. I didn’t like the PRX on the bracelet, fits much better on the strap.

·

I can totally relate. Looking at the reviews and online pictures, I was dead sure to buy it. Thankfully, instead of ordering online, I went to a store and tried both 40mm and 35mm versions but I was disappointed. I just didn't feel like I had imagined. I'm sure these are amazing watches, but wasn't for me I guess.
