Moons watch craving

Lately i am getting a little obsessed over getting one of these , at same time i could not convince me to pay 300Cad for it, I tried getting a timex chronobut that itch is still there.

I could go the fake route could get one for like 60cad , what the watch fam thinks has anyone here been in this dilemma before?

I love mine, but if you want an alternative the Nivada Moonmaster might be it. Metal pushers and a date.

Dont get a fake, fakes are for posers.

·

I love Omega, and am up to 4 in my primary collection. But the MoonSwatch, and the way they have marketed and limited availability have come to annoy me. There’s better options for less money. I’m done with the foolishness that is the MoonSwatch.

Trust i am no big collector i do enjoy wearing watches even for me its not easy to convince myself to get a fake one.

I really like the colors and branding. Are they overpriced? Yes. But they make me happy.

Indeed more hyped that what it is worth but the form factor/size that is what they got right

Yeah, I'll agree that since they have the blueprints the Moonswatch is made to correct tolerances. But it's not worth the price. I have a Pagani.design homage with a Seiko movement and steel case that is objectively a better watch. If the Moonswatch cost about $75 and I could buy it online I might buy one for the fun of it for my budget sub collection. But at this price and with these gamed, no thanks. At least, that's the way I see it.

What about it that makes you wanted the moonswatch? The styling? The colors? The fact it’s a moonswatch? That it has Omega brand on it (no judging here… bought 2 for that reason myself)? There are other plastic watches that homage the style like SKMEI 1982 for around 10 CAD, which I bought and love to mod…. Or even the Pagani Design with metal for around 100 CAD with mecha-quartz, sapphire cyrstal, and with metal.

But if you want it for what it is… well, go for it… Some people hate it some love it. If you get it and dont like it after all… sell it off for a bit of loss. Think of it as “renting” cost for the watch.

Then don’t. Clearly you’d know what you’re wearing is fake (and it already bothers you enough to post about it). It won’t scratch your itch.

Saturn is easy to get nowadays (even in Canada, you can walk right in and get one). Take the 60 and use that against the 300 because I suspect you’ll end up buying the fake and a few months later the real thing.

·

Don’t try to convince yourself, if you’re resisting getting it, it’s because your regret buying alert is speaking to you!

·

Get this. It’s cheaper and better quality. I’ve owned a moonswatch and this doesn’t compare. I’ve been in the same place you are. I wanted a moonswatch so badly and when I finally got one I was extremely let down. I’m much happier with this Dan Henry chronograph.

That’s just my opinion from one watch enthusiast to another. Do whatever you want with your money my friend.

·

If you really, really want the real thing, you won’t be happy until you have the real thing. You’ll end up buying 2 more watches you really don’t want, and end up getting this one anyway. FWIW that’s how it works for me.

·

IMO these are collectables and even if the "fakes" are better quality they are completely missing the point.

·

I tried one on a couple of weeks ago and they are so light, like not having anything on your wrist. I like to feel the weight of a watch on my wrist, so these get a definite pass from me.

·

So your options are:

1) Buy a fake. But you know it's a fake and you'll be disgusted with yourself.

2) Buy the real thing, even though you know it's stupidly overpriced for a disposable plastic watch, cosplaying as something it's not and that will not last very long with use.

I don't think either option is palatable - or particularly smart. But it's your money!

I recommend finding a real chronograph, worth its price, and that will last. Tons of brands to choose from. Tons of styles and RRPs. That's where the smart buying is. Good luck.

·

Even you are in love with Omega, this is not an Omega. Buy the fake kill your obsession then you trash it like you do with the original overpriced sh… Now you’re ready for a real Chrono like Seiko, Orient or TISSOT for half price

·

The one in that image is FAKE so I'd steer clear of buying them unless you go directly to Swatch for it.

You're right, but we could say so much about overpriced watches...... I won't start.

Makes complete sense!!

Exactly the suggestion what i wanted ,

·

Don’t buy a fake. If you want the Moonswatch then just know you’re signing up for. A cheap plastic watch that, if worn regularly, will probably break. 👍🏻

·

Looks like the 😕emoji.

·

I had one in hand from a friend and decided i would never buy it felt like a toy watch 😏

·

I loved the idea when they launched. Got one when they became more available. Original from AD so I don’t have to worry. Knew the strap was crap so got a NATO. Love it every time I wear it.

If you want one, buy it. Don’t buy a fake, you wear your watches for your own pleasure and a fake doesn’t give you the pleasure you need.

·

I think the used market is better than it was but I think I’d still buy new as there were some problems that have happened to these. I think if you want a Moonswatch the only answer is to march into a Swatch store and pay for one I’m afraid.
