Style of watchphotography

So - I'm asking myself what kind of photos are the most attracting for watchnuts like us.

Is it a picture me perfect or is it a Dirty wristshot?!

What do you prefer and why?!

I'm Curious about that!

I love that one but I couldn't afford it so I bought the Steinhart in 42mm with the eta 2824-2. It's beautiful to me as well I love it.

i like the car studio shot myself :-)

For me, it's both about the context of the scene where the watch was shot and whether the photograph clearly accentuates some particular aspect of the watch. Generally, this is communicated with good lighting and clarity. If the image is too flat or doesn't draw attention to the subject in a meaningful way, I don't feel much connection to it.

PS - this includes my own imaging. 🙂

I like the close ups where you really see the dial details

I find the lighting in the car is best most times … my fav shot … so far

I prefer both…🤓

·

For me definitely the first shot, but I know wristshot got many likes on IG. I'm probably weird

·

Like a Martini, up and dirty!

·

This might sound judgemental, but I always end up focusing on hairy arms in a wristshot instead of the watch

·

It‘s any shot that makes me think “Oh! That’s nice!”

If I can see what the photographer was trying to convey then it’s a good shot. Wrist shot, set up shot, concept shot, macro shot - that’s the part that makes no difference to me

·

I like the macro shot or the random of a small detail that isn’t usually noticed with the naked eye….such as the Omega logo or the Rolex crown…

Most of my photos on IG are wrist shots. I admit that it’s due to lack of motivation to improve my photograph, and that’s going to change soon. I appreciate wrist shots, but I feel it’s almost a lazy way out. Plus my arms are grotesquely skinny and hairy 🤢

I feel like Rolex wouldn’t want you looking that closely 😜

Love that speedy!

Watches in action shots for me, including just looking pretty action!

As far as style, I want to see the watch, not the person and if one can do so creatively, awesome. Genuine macros (shot with actual macro gear)? Yes. Staging to go with it? Cool. I am not a huge fan of basic wrist shots and will immediately cringe at steering wheel or any other means of attempting to flex shots.

That said, many good shooters in this group.

Thanks for your input!!

I do wrist shots and sometimes more dressed shots in regards to background but right now I'm experimenting with a light box and an ultra black background material to allow me to really bring out the features of the watch. It works pretty well. Especially for some of my more vintage pieces.

Awesome shots man

Exactly. Really tough to pull off without a tripod, and some way to take the shot remotely.

·

For me, it's both, and other types of shots (angles, lighting, setting, etc.) that highlight the beauty and uniqueness of the time piece, as many already have mentioned previously.

Try to get some photography lessons from  Sir @Omeganut  😂

Firstly you’ll need a couple of puppies and then train them to poop on demand whenever your ready to take that wrist shot 🤣

Obligatory...

Let me know if y'all need some pointers on filters and zoom and lighting, okay?

Great timing buddy, but I thought you were supposed to be focusing on the watch. Also your puppy doesn’t seem impressed at all “come on Dad, I’m trying to take a dump here” 🤣

It's a tricky one to pull off and I'm still wearing sweatpants in it!

·

I like both! I usually do wrist shots that are good enough for my posts because it takes quite a bit of effort to put together a really good watch pic.

It's the popularized #omeganutstyle on WRUW 😜

·

I like ‘em all! As long as it is the watch I like. it’s just like if you adore a super model. Any photos he/she take anytime, anywhere with any clothes(even without 😜)  will look nice!

·

3 kinds of pictures I like to take with my watches.

Iconic places always nice to look back when we were that certain watch.

The people we care and closest the most.

A reflection place that can be during sunset at the beach, sporting event or event at your favorite hang out spot.
