Nubeo SkyLab Review.

Today I have the Nubeo Skylab in my hands.

Specs :

48mm diameter

14.6 mm high.

It should be noted that the height is hardly noticeable on the wrist and it is relatively flat.

Which is due to the proportions. The proportions, on the other hand, are expansive at 48mm and a little too big for my wrist at just 17cmm - in my opinion.

But if you like a watch with a presence on your wrist, you'll definitely have fun with it.

The watch has a 100m WR and a screw-down crown - which I find very appealing.

Now - let's move on to the dial, which immediately looks "different".

At the lower edge between 4 - 8 o'clock we have the Minutes from 0-60.

Otherwise, the dial has an impressive futuristic design, although one may ask whether it is a classic dial at all or simply a design.

The rehaut from 9 to 3 o'clock shows the model name and Nubeo as the brand name.

So how do we read the time?

The hands - there are three of them - tell us, of course.

Each hand has a number on it: 1-12.

The hand that is between 4-8 o'clock and thus hovers above the minutes tells us the time.

The number on the hand is the hour and the minute is the one on or above which the hand is positioned.

What looks complicated at first - is actually quite simple.

As soon as the hand leaves 60 minutes, the next hand appears at 4 o'clock

The whole thing is made possible by a modified MIyota 9036 movement.

In my opinion, I find the MIyota movements significantly more pleasant than those from Seiko - if only because of the height.

The bezel looks as if it has an oil screen on it and has a beautiful purple metallic shimmer.

It doesn't look cheap at all, but really fitting. The crown also has a corresponding purple color.

The strap has a purple ring or you can switch directly to the purple rubber strap supplied

The case is black and has 4 polished surfaces, which emphasize the overall design of the watch.

Let's move on to any negative aspects of the watch.

Here I can personally think of the size.

But Nubeo is not known for making small watches, but is intended precisely for lovers of large and special watches.

The design here is really special and unique.

Whether this is ultimately negative - everyone has to judge for themselves. Those who like SPace themed watches will certainly be satisfied here.

Personally, I think it's a shame that "Nubeo Skylab" is so prominent in the rehaut. I think if they`d have put a small badge on the dial would have been better.

All in all there`s nothing much more negative to say.

The components that are used are good. A solid movement which can be handled by all watchmakers around the world, 100m WR, the crown and the stem have a good contact once screwed out and the casebuild is also solid.

So - if you`re a fan of special watches - that`s something to have a look at.

Sidenote : It`s difficult to capture it on photos ! 😄

hardly noticeable on the wrist

Like a neon sign.

It is always interesting when boundaries are pushed.

Pretty cool design. Probably too big for me but fun to see quirky pieces like that.

Yes it's big, but if this is a Urwerk, everyone would be saying "Interesting and Bold!" Honestly I love this and I own all colors of the Skylab, without the Urwerk price tag!

For the price of all colors I still paid less then for the Urwerk UR-1001!
