Welcome New App Users

The new app is finally here and, as expected, WatchCrunch has experienced a huge rush of new users. New folks should be posting and interacting with the great community here. I offer these 10 simple suggestions to get the most out of the Crunch:

  1. Just like Instagram, WC users like to see posts of watches without all of that unnecessary text, context, or explanation. It would only humanize you to let us know the "why". Just give the "what."

  2. Polls. Everyone loves a poll. Compare anything that you want to: what's the best watch for traveling to Patagonia? A.) Flieger Style "A"; B.) Titanium; C.) Jubilee Bracelet; D.) Seiko.

  3. You haven't really "Crunched" until you have posted a picture of a G-Shock, just the photo in a post (not WRUW). Some people say that G-Shocks are just oversized children's plastic toys which have led to the coarsening of our culture. Ignore those people.

  4. Remember our WC code of conduct. We are nice, nice to a fault. If you can't say something nice about a G-Shock, especially a John Mayer G-Shock (he is so dreamy, despite what Taylor says), then don't say anything at all. Insider tip: @Porthole works for WC and constantly tests our manners. If you find yourself writing in a heated exchange with him about electroplating watch cases or some such esoteric topic just remember that it is a test. Use the safe word "Pin Pallet" and the suits at WC will back off and have a laugh.

  5. The most interesting subject concerning watches is that of homages. It never gets old. Bring it up whenever you can.

  6. Tuesday is "Hublot Tuesday".

  7. Because Rolex is a charity, buying a Rolex is tax deductible (at least in the U.S.), that is why most of us have multiple Rolex. What, you don't?

  8. Watches are a great investment.

  9. If you haven't worked the term "watch" into your user name then you are not trying hard enough: "WatchmebuyalltheHublotwatches".

  10. No one should ever buy a vintage watch for any reason, ever.

Also collecting watches is a great life long journey and they have a way of speaking to you, tell us about your journey whenever you can.

Also Hamilton field mechanicals are the greatest watch ever and if you don't like them or think they're not that great you will immediately be banned.

@ToolWatchTom is, of course, absolutely correct. Notice how he adhered to Rule 9? That's how it is done.

Yep. I would not have seen this post without the "Following" tab.

I am too "edgy" I guess. I knew exactly when they de-emphasized this post.

I was quite sure that the op was kidding until the last point. I agree. No one should buy vintage watches.
