Should I get one luxury watch or 2 microbrands

Hello fellow watchcrunchers I need your advice. Should I buy one watch (Tudor black bay 32) or 2 watches (CW C63 Sealander& Glycine Combat Sub 36)? If I buy 2 microbrands it’s almost as cost as BB that is bought in the grey market. It would be great to hear your thoughts. 👍🏼

I say which ones do you go..” OMG!! I want  to wear you everyday and I can’t stop looking at you!!”… if the 2 micro brands buy them if the Tudor tickles your fancy more go for it… go with what feels right for you!!

I don't like very much the Black Bay, so it would be the two micro for me. However, of you were talking about a Longines, Fortis, Omega, Grand Seiko, I would say, get the one.

Wish I can buy them all but it’s hard to decide. It would be great I have a million bucks.🥹

I didn’t know buying and collecting are expensive as well.🤣

Kind of depends where you are with your collection. The thing about micros is sometimes they sell out and don't make the same model again. So if you really want them, probably best to grab em' while you can. That being said, as much as I like my micro's (CW, Panzera, Armida...), my recent Tudor BB 41 is really something special. The way it wears, the fit and finish, the accuracy and precession, it's just on another level. I can't imagine ever parting with it voluntarily. Also consider your financial situation - if the BB is a stretch and it took a lot of saving to get there, it's going to be a while before you can do it again, whereas the micros are more attainable, so it might make more sense to get the Tudor now and add the micros, one at a time, as you can.

Listen to your gut and your heart, only you can decide.

I love my CW and think the C63 looks awesome. Don’t know much about the Glycine but I’d go for the micros.

·

I would take the Christopher Ward and the Glycine over the lackluster Tudor.  You do realize that you are comparing a 39mm diameter CW and 36 mm Glycine to a 32 mm Tudor? Two good looks vs one marginal look makes this an easy choice for me.

·

My initial thought is to say get the two, however-  I don't like doing two honeymoons at the same time, some of the pleasure is reduced, for me anyway.

·

I would go with a micro brand, or a Hamilton , up to you.

Thank you for your advice and will defi will follow my guts.😀

That’s exactly what my partner says about Tudor. Plus when I tried it on it felt perfect. 😅

Thanks for the advice will try by best to control myself.

Personal preference, buy the one Tudor. I feel like it's going to be able to do everything you wanted with the two micro brand watches.

And maybe a Swatch for colour if that's what you wanted with the CW 😁

·

My 2 cents - Do you feel like your at the point where you are ready to get a big watch like a Tudor? If so then go ahead. Remember,  you have years to experience different watches. Don't rush and take your time, enjoy the experience.

·

If it will be your first “luxury” watch, and you really like it, then buy it. That will determine for you, whether more expensive watches are really worth it. Buying a BB58 helped put watches in perspective for me.

·

Grab the microbrands 🎯

·

i'll get glycine and cw instead. just to make my watchbox full. i guess more is merrier right ?😃

·

Actually I am always in favor of micro brands, because they mostly have more to offer than luxury watches when taking into account their affordable prices  If you care what people think about your social status go for Tudor. If you only care what you care, go for the other two. If I were to buy a luxury piece, I wouldn't go for Tudor. I'd rather prefer to get a piece from the parent brand Rolex. A Rolex Explorer for instance. The watch is not only luxury but has a real story such as Everest Expedition. Tudor is always a cheaper sub-brand to me and has no spirit.

·

I own a Tudor and I love it, but I don't particularly like the model you're looking at so I'd go micro

·

My stage of collecting tells me to buy the nicest watch I can afford with the available funds.  But it has to be something I absolutely love.

I didn’t follow this rule for my last purchase and I’m afraid that I’ll be looking to move it soon after it arrives.

·

I would go with the watch that really speaks to you regardless if it is a micro or long-established brand. Think about five, ten years from today which of these watches do you bond with and still see yourself wearing and that is the one I would choose. If you look at your current collection and take into account the watch that you intuitively go to and wear and you just have that feeling of I love this F*** watch. You can sort of figure out the reason why you bonded with that watch over others in your collection and then use that logic when you pick your next watch.

·

I would go with the Tudor.  You will end probably up selling the microbrands for a higher range watch later on otherwise.  Been there, done that..

·

I'll answer your question with another question: are any of the three watches you are considering watches that move you and ones you want to own because you love the design and look on your wrist? If not, if there are watches that are more expensive, but within reach, then I would hold off and continue to save to purchase the watch you really want to own.

On the other hand, if all three fit into the same category for you and you are merely thinking about resale value, then clearly the Tudor will retain its value better than the other two.

If you are indifferent to resale value, then go with the two watches instead of the one if they are all equally exciting to you. Don't worry about what anyone thinks about a brand.

Myself, I don't own a Rolex, even though I can afford just about any one they make. I just don't care for the designs - they don't move me at all. And for the same amount of money of even a modestly priced Rolex, I can purchase a number of vintage timepieces that really move me.

So you have to define why you are buying the watch - what is your objective? In that lies the answer to your question.

·

You can't let the community decide.. That will only lead to great suffering, young padawan. You must carry the burden of your decision alone 🤣

·

OK...so first of all, Glycine is NOT a microbrand.  They've been in existence since 1914, and have never folded, though Invicta did buy them out about 6 years ago.

I don't own a CW, but I DO own 2 Glycines and a Tudor.  The Glycines, while wonderful watches in their own right, are not in the same league as the Tudor.  Since you can only wear one at a time, I'd get the Tudor (assuming you're in love with it) and pick up a Glycine later, if you still want it.

Sounds like you may still be trying to figure out your tastes. In which case, it's better to try more brands than less, but as is the nature of this phase, you'll tend to cycle through watches, so resale value might be a consideration.

·

Personally, I would definitely go Tudor between these options. Have you tried on a Nomos? They offer quality/finishing that I think is really hard to beat in the 1-2k price range. A while back I was deciding between a Nomos Orion and Tudor 1926, and I am very glad I went with the Nomos.

·

I would say Tudor for sure.

·

Buy one Micro and see if you live that.  Tudor is full of cool surprises this year. Wear one for a while
