New Farer 36 Lineup

Anybody else check out the new lineup? 36mm time only, 10.4mm thick, La Joux-Perret G101. Some very cool color combos.

That salmon is delish!! 36mm Hmmm still scared to jump on cases less than 38mm … but this salmon dial is 🤤 oops my mistake !! It’s Peach even better love peaches !! 🍑🍑🍑

·

Ditto. Smallest I have is a 37mm, but again, that peach dial is awesome.

·

More about the movement. Similar to a 2824, but some interesting modifications.

I love the watch and would buy one but it would be swallowed up on my wrist. 😔

Need at least 40mm. I know the trend lately has been smaller cases but I hope there can be an option.

Cheers!

Checked them out as soon as their email popped in...too small for me I think but my wife may jump on one

I have an average size wrist and am on the fence to go to a 36. I’ve tried the new Explorer 36 several times and honestly the size is pretty good, but I haven’t made the jump to a 36 yet.

I guess for me I couldn't make that jump. If I did I'd probably wouldn't give it much time on my wrist and I have a few of those already  lol

Decisions decisions........good luck! Still it's a nice watch.

Where Christopher Ward could have gone for their 36mm line-up. At least with the movement (sweet PW compared to an SW200).

Only downside is, as usal with this brand, it's probably gonna be sold out in 90 minutes because they'll produce only 200.

Really nice though

Rolexes tend to wear quite larger than stated size. Which for the Explorer 1 is just perfect.

My wife has a vintage Seasmaster that wears larger than 36mm...I probably need to start with something similar

I thought the same, but these seem to be an open edition.

·

Nice but way too small for me

·

Kind of boring.

·

Anyone had experience of the G101 movement? Power reserve is quite impressive but wondering more about accuracy and reliability...

·

I absolutely love the Red.  I just need to free up some space.  My wife has put me on a one in one out order.

It's actually based on the Miyota 9000 series movement, made thickened to house a bigger mainspring (I guess), with a screw-type adjuster (I knew this because of the movement's looks and the fact that La Joux-Perret was bought by Citizen in 2012.)

Here's a Time+Tide article from August 2022 about the G100, the date version of the G101 (that article also mentions the Valjoux 7750-based L100 and Peseux 7001-based D100, though that one still doesn't have hacking seconds, though): https://timeandtidewatches.com/movement-manufacturer-la-joux-perret-take-on-swiss-giants/

Thanks for sharing that, appreciate it. It is interesting that different outlets say different things. In looking at it I can pull out inspiration from both. I do not have any with the G101, but seems intriguing all the same.

Sort of a dressed up field watch.  Not my aesthetic, but interesting to look at.

I am largely where you are. I love looking at these. Not really a field, not really a dress watch. Farer has a way of doing that.

Being the owner of a Resolute 38mm, I can assure you that the case is far away from boring. The shape of the lugs is incredibly fluid, the brushed surface gives a little rugged aspect whereas the polished sides reflects the very little light incredibly. The caseback is flat so in top of that the watch sits perfectly on the wrist. And the very thin bezel on top of which comes a boxed sapphire closes the elegance show

I have to agree. With their recent cases that have been killing it; be it the cushion, chrono classic, etc. This is not quite either of those two, but their work always leaves me impressed.

These are awesome but the cushion cases are my favorite

I was not paying attention the day of the drop for those. I see the Salmon one come up often, but the green is the one I want. There is one on ebay now, but a firm $500 over retail. I don't pay over retail on any watch, but definitely would not on a micro.

I have an Aquamatic and love it. I do like Farer as a brand...... these will sell quick

Let me put it this way.  I'd definitely prefer one of these to a Patek 5226G.  They seem to be more appropriately sized and serve the purpose better.

50m of water resistance kind of kills it for me. For what this watch is going for you’d think it would be an everyday GADA. 100m of water resistance is kind of the minimum for that.

I hear you. That is the interesting thing about it, similar to most field watches and dress watches; neither are particularly great at WR, with most falling into the 50-100m range.

·

Love the design but 50wr makes it DOA for me.

·

I like it but never heard of the brand. Nice specs…are they good? I guess Farar is a micro-brand?

They have been around for a little bit and are well regarding in the community. Definitely worth consideration.

I LOVE the red, but it is a little too close to others I have, otherwise, it would be my first choice as well.

I really like the red one. It's definitely my favourite dial layout of these.

·

Love Farer. Colors, fonts, attention to details...

I was born in Georgia, so I HAVE to buy it, right?

·

I don't think 36mm is considered small overall, I would consider dial size on wrist to be more accurate indicator if it wears small.

From press photos I feel the whole dial real estate sans a bezel will wear larger much like an Explorer.
