I just cannot vote for a company that insists on acrylic glass in the 21st century. As an option, yes, but not as a "philosophy".
All day, err day 😂
And all in good fun, btws, plus I love discussion.
Oh no...
Still readable...👀🤏🏻😂😉 YMMV of course.
As an end user, I prefer it.
Owner of Orion watches did bring up good points from a brand. And just from what I've read, you've gotta be all in or out up with the unique hassles of plexiglass, acrylic, Hesalite, whatever.
Be looking for my very unscientific, yet in person demonstration post about glare once I get on days off...TL;DR most sapphire I've seen and/or own suck.
Anyone wants to send me a Rolex, I'm all ears, but pretty sure it's still gonna reflect.
The crystal itself reflects, vs internal reflections and case.
Yes I know, exterior coating helps, but that even worse, cuz once it's scratched, you can't fix it.
How boring! Baltic and Lorier make the same style watches, essentially homages, and they look amazing don’t get me wrong.
At least Baltic uses Sapphire glass! There is no excuse to be using plastic for your crystal in 2024, I don’t care if you’re including polish with your watch. One ding when you’re getting into your car or against the wall and the watch is toast!
I have a few that would like to have a chat...👀🤏🏻😉🫣😂
I'm a Lorier fan and want them to win, but why not Zelos?
For me there is nothing about #zelos as a brand that speaks to me. I understand why so many love the brand but for my personal taste & style, #zelos is not for me. Also, even though I don’t like some of the watches #lorier makes, I think that overall
#lorier makes the best vintage inspired watches. My favorites from #lorier are the falcon & the Neptune 👍🏼

Far as the homages go, and in the strictest sense, Baltic and Lorier are some of the few actually doing an homage, and not a clone.
Lorier even references which three historical models are the inspiration.

The initial rankings are mostly based mostly on comments and posts so it's more about a popularity ranking but not necessarily an overall public brand perception ranking which I feel is kinda how we're asked to vote. So I feel like the initial rankings don't necessarily reflect how people may feel about a brand overall which can be hard to measure. Like I wouldn't surprised if Timex or Swatch might be mentioned on Watch Crunch more often than maybe Patek Phillipe but if you put out a poll on which brand you would consider the better brand...I suspect Timex or Swatch might be in for an uphill battle even if they come up more often on posts etc...
Don't get me wrong I'm not knocking Zelos or Lorier. I own two Loriers. They are popular for a reason. But we're asked to look at the overall brand and you have to consider how they will perform vis a vis during the tourney. So with respect to both I didn't see them surviving their respective brackets.
I did predict Spinnaker wouldn't survive their bracket and I also believed Baltic had the easiest path to the final four. So I was half right about the results of the initial number 1s. Matched up differently it's possible to get different results. I'm betting Baltic will likely win it all now. But truth be told if Baltic had swapped their number 1 position with Lorier... I wouldn't have predicted Baltic in the final four and I would have thought Lorier had a very good chance to get to the final four.

Poll closed for this matchup. Congratulations to Lorier!

Absolutely hit it on the head, the initial ranking was strictly two items:
Posts under the brand hashtag
Total followers on WC
The weighting skewed heavily on posts, but both were a factor. Much harder to rank brand perception, for all we know, most of the posts could have been putting a brand on blast, but then again, WC does not usually skew in that direction. With Baltic having the overall #1 seed, they were always going to have a slight edge, just because of how the bracket is put together: #1 faces #64, #2 Vs. #63, and so on. Again, similar bracket structure to the NCAA tournament.
My tournament recap tomorrow will dive into a lot of number nerdery that went into this.

I'm sure there will be some pretty interesting insights and patterns that emerged.
And I hope my comment didn't come off as being critical of the rankings. It's hard to measure wins, losses and power reserves...I mean power conferences in the watch world. You did a great job.

Gonna be tough.
To pass the time...
Both great brands, but I'm going with Zelos over Lorier...with a 7.5 inch wrist, many more Zelos to fit my wrist than Loriers...

Go Zelos
Zelos
If the most dramatic watch photo I’ve ever taken doesn’t win it for Lorier…
Steam and Steel is no problem for the Hyperion
Since the SU scare 2 rounds ago, the Zelos cavalry… 🤣

Still think Zelos carries this oh well maybe next year...👀🤏🏻😭😂😉
My last new watch was a Zelos.. but a Lorier Gemini is the next on my list..
Boring final
Sometimes, that's the way the cookie crumbles.

Also random thought, why is it ok for an acrylic/plastic crystal on a non replaceable moon collab watch.
And yet for another $100 - 200-ish (depending on model/newness) US, it's not ok for a real automatic movement, steel cased watch?
Keep in mind I believe the collabs I speak off have non-replaceabke crystals, so Polywatch is the ONLY option.

Falcon, Astra & the Zephyr are my top 3
Seeded #1 they were supposed to make it this far

Great thing is, the tournament was exciting and will have a great finale despite your thoughts.
Have a good one.
Habring beat Furlan Marri by 3 votes & there was an 11 vote difference between Fears & Ming in earlier rounds
My comment was way too premature 😅it was neck and neck hovering around 50% between the two for a while
