Unimatic all the way...such a cool Italian brand...I've been a fan since the early days...

I own a Unimatic GMT and it is an awesome watch. That said, I have meet the owner of Duckworth a couple times and they are a go to recommendation of mine for cushion cases. Amazing family lineage of that brand and hearing Neil totally nerd out about the watches his grandfather made and how he is honoring the family legacy with the brand now is just cool.

Didn't Unimatic collaborate with Time factors for their first watch? The PRS-40? At least one of the owners, Giovanni Moro?

·

As a brand, Duckworth has more British history and tradition. Beautiful watches. Unimatic has more contemporary Italian designs which I personally like more as are extremely beautiful. Tough decision.

You are correct about Giovanni, but he had not yet started Unimatic.

Here's the information you are referencing...

Unimatic overall just didn't click with me. The Duckworth Prestex watches really did though. I hadn't pay much attention to either brand before and now I know.😃

Unimatic

·

This one should go straight to Unimatic!

·

Unimatic, super consistent design language and the Italian military connection is cool if you’re into that. Certainly makes them feel reassuringly robust anyway.

I hung out at Duckworth Prestex for a bit at British Watchmakers’ Day, I’d have to give an honourable mention to this Duckworth model with the off-centre sub seconds. The vertical brushing on the case is a really nice touch.

Duckworth all day. History, British and really cool designs.

·

I prefer Duckworth

·

Unimatic 100%

·

This is tough as they both have VERY different design language. Unimatic def appeals more to the masses and the sports watch folks and the designs are clean and no fuss. Duckworth is more interesting though but cushion cases aren’t going to be for everyone.

·

No disrespect to Duckworth, but Unimatic have such a unique design language. I’m new to the Unimatic fan club but I have to agree with @ChronoGuy, they’re so

Expected this one to be closer also…

While I love the design and quality of the Unimatic, lately it seems all they do is churn out limited edition colabs of the same watch in different colorways. It's like they're just phoning it in for the last two years.

·

I’m shocked Duckworth is doing so well against Unimatic! Gonna have to look closer at them.

·

I think the artisan engraving option offered by Unimatic pushes them in favor for me. That's a really cool "factory" option to offer.

You’re not wrong, many many LE’s for sure.

·

Hmmm...looks like I may be 4 for 4 in the loser column today. Unimatic just doesn't do much for me, I get the design language and they are certainly consistent with it, just not my thing. This was my first exposure to Duckworth and I was pleasantly surprised by both the history and the more recent endeavor. The aesthetic of their watches is more in line with my tastes as well. So, my vote went to Duckworth.

Duckworth

·

Unimatic just doesn’t do anything for me. Their designs seem flat. I’m going Duckworth, but I’m on the losing side of 3 of the 4 matches today 🤣

·

The styles are very different

Their core collection is amazing, and I have no problem with them all having 'that unimatic look', and I understand totally that these co-labs broaden their market by attracting consumers from the fanbase of their co-lab partners. This all makes sense to keep the lights on, and may even bring new people into the watch fam... but I hope for more.
