My whole collection of 18 watches is probably worth around $2.500. some worthless.

Should I continue in my budget route, or spend $3.000 in ONE entry luxury watch.

You only have so much wrist time. If you have a few budget options to mix it up, you’re covered. Start getting some watches that really stretch your budget on a less frequent basis.

·

Don't ever break the bank for a watch

Only get watches you can afford & makes you smile 😊

Is my motto

·

18 sounds like a large amount to cover all your basis already. Personally I would sell and replace/upgrade at this point, instead of accumulating more watches you won't wear.

·

I think you’ve probably spent that but I strongly doubt you’d get anything close to £2k for those.

·

I am new on this journey. So I went with budget options to see what I really like. I will slowly upgrade my pieces over time.

·

Personal decisions we all must make. So many very very nice watches under 1,000 and around 500 I'm not sure what "luxury" is other than a brand. Variety is the spice of life. For me watches are the one area in life I can constantly change. Hard and expensive to switch jobs, cars, houses, wives etc. But a different watch for mood, season, clothes, location etc. Is just fun with no harm. That said if you have your bases all covered then adding a "luxury" brand may be the ticket.

I DO wear them all!💪

You can get a lot of fun watches or blow it all on one expensive piece you can get tired of.... There are many stories of grail watches here that fall out of favor. Sell a cheap watch lose small...sell an expensive watch and lose big.

·

C. Only you know what’s best for you. Some people like a small collection of more expensive pieces, others like a larger collection of less expensive pieces. Neither approach is better or worse than the other.

Agree 💸

·

Maybe cut the collection in half and put it towards something around the $ 1250-1500 range

·

18 watches is an entire collection, because you should have a watch for every need with that many. I voted to move on from this price point, save and try something more upscale. There really is a difference to be experienced.

·

I voted A but there’s lots of quality & classic watches way below $3k

·

The value of my watch collection is not measured in $$$. If I were to try to do would lead me to unrest a d unhappiness.

·

It's probably about time to venture upmarket, but only if you have something that really appeals to you.

No point in spending big money on something just because it's "the thing to do".

·

I cannot offer advice, perhaps just relate my buying pattern and allow you to form your own path. I have worked a long time made some errors in judgement in my life, stumbled onto a few small wins also. My last purchase was a planned Longines Legend Diver but on a whim also picked up an Omega DSOM concurrently. The Omega is much more expensive but gives me no more joy than the LL. If your first more expensive buy diminishes the enjoyment of wearing the entry level watches in your collection may not be the best plan at this moment.

·

I would say go for the luxury watch but you don’t have to start off with a 3k spend. There are Awsome watches for half the amount or less like Longine.

That’s my opinion anyway.

Awesome post! 🤩

I think trying watch somewhere closer to $1-1.5K might be a better step, as it might shock you how great watches in that price range can be. After picking up a couple of Christopher Wards I pretty much gave up on the idea of buying "luxury" watches.

Something to consider is that you need to buy watches you're comfortable actually wearing. An expensive watch you constantly take off for fear of damaging it might not make you as happy as a nice watch that you aren't afraid to wear.

CW watches are in my radar 😜

I like to travel in the $500 or less range. What i have learned is that how much a watch costs doesn't really equal how much i enjoy it.

I like to wear my g-shock as much as any other piece i have. I do like however some that have great sentimental value to me than others.

I do however have some watches on my mind that are in the 1-5k range, but i take my time and not pulling the trigger in the near future as i need $ elsewhere more.

I wear a lot my $50 G-SHOCK! 😜

·

Go for a used Black Bay from a reputable dealer or maybe a new Christopher Ward (less than $3K) and get a feel for what it’s like.

·

After buying 20 watches last year for ~$1500, I'm now going with "Buy the best & cry only once."

There's another reason, nice

·

So i voted for the 1 nice, but there is a happy medium of like $1k for a great watch, but you dont feel like you HAVE to wear it all the time because u dropped 3K.

Just a thought

·

Get two for £1500 each - buy used!

I paid £1300 for my quartz Aqua Terra.

Going to the NYC Wind up fair.... plan to get a $1000 piece... maybe a CW.
