Seiko 6R35 Movement Accuracy Poll

Calling all Seiko owners with 6R35 movements. What currently is the accuracy for your watch? I’ve been getting inconsistent information regarding this movement specifically and wanted to see how it has been doing with other owners. Please indicate accuracy you initially experienced before any kind of regulation or repair. For myself my watch was -1 minute off per day, and after several months without improvement I decided to take it back for a warranty repair. 3 months later I received a watch that is more accurate but is now -26 seconds per day slow. Please comment with your thoughts and experiences.

I'm sitting at -14 spd. These come factory tuned, and are really hit and miss. Almost all Seikos aside from their very top-tier, benefit from a regulation.

Mine (Seiko "ghost" Alpinist) is only an occasional wear, so I haven't bothered to regulate it. Yet...

I was actually surprised that only top tier gets regulated considering how much modern Seikos can go for these days. I think Seiko really wants to differentiate between their price tier offerings, especially with regard to movements, QC and accuracy.

You and me both brother.

Past week: about +10 on wrist, +18 overnight, so about +13 on average. It got better, the first month they were +20.

Also, it suddenly mysteriously slowed down twice (you can see the one of those instances in orange)

All in all, I set it about 40 s late and at the end of the week it's 40 s early and I'm fine with that.

Ya... Its part of the love/hate relationship most of us have with Seiko. Bad QC is practically part of their design language at this point 😜

I only have a 4R36 on my King Turtle. I'm getting about +3 seconds per day.

Ha! I do the same thing and map the accuracy of my watches over time and resting position. Data analysis background, can’t help it!

·

All good in KS land, runs better than most other movement I have, def upped their QC for that collection at least

It seems like the older movements are still standing the test of time. Nice!

Have 3. The best one is -10/seconds a day. The worst one is -45/seconds a day. The other one is +30 a day.

My dude, that is a huge range between worst and best. Definitely Seiko accuracy is luck of the draw.

·

in the +5-10 range.

·

I have directly from the factory:

  • SPB207, average +3spd (one year old)

  • SPB147, average +17spd (2 months old, I have only run a couple of tests)

I also have a Baltany Field with an NH-35, that I haven't tested on the wrist, but it is around +22 spd in the timegrapher

·

A, but just barely. Wore my ‘59 Alpinist for a week straight, and it came in at -19.1 spd.

Based on this highly unscientific poll so far, there is a significant possibility that you are going to get a watch with worse accuracy than the advertised specs if you buy one with a 6R35 movement. If this is slightly close to reality these kind of results are startling to say the least. Considering that this movement is usually used on mid-tier Seikos, Seiko has taken the stance that this kind of failure rate is acceptable at this price point and QC has been set at a deliberately low bar. If this was a vacuum cleaner, a microwave or a computer this product line would be reevaluated for recall, improvement or discontinuation. Honestly Seiko this is a bit disappointing. Your designs are amazing, your QC not so much.

The first few month it ran great (spb157) with only a couple seconds per day +/- but then it started to get really bad. After I demagnetized it, it got a bit better but is now still around -30sec/day.

·

The 6R looks like a sped up 4R with the same wild spec's and the 9 series Miyota have fewer complaints against them.

·

My 6R54 (gmt based on 6r55, upgraded r35) is +0.3spd out of box

I can second that. I probably am lucky but my 7S26 runs absurdly well. Most days it’s about 1spd. Occasionally it randomly gains between 5-15s overnight, but the rest of the time it runs like quartz. My 6r35 is currently back with the ad because I was so fed up with -30spd

·

About 5-6 seconds/day slow. I’m happy with that

·

I’ve always had good luck with my 6r movements in fact the one in my spb147 is one of the most acurate watches I’ve owned last time I checked it was around three seconds a day out

·

-3 for my Willard.

·

Got my SPB149 back from Seiko service and it’s at +12 sec/day

·

-15 : +25 per day

·

I feel like I won the lottery because I'm getting COSC at +3 spd on my SPB121 - real world results.

·

I'm getting +3spd with my LE Sumo. No complaints here. 😉

·

My 6R was ±28s out of the box. It’s running now at -1s a day.

·

Mine was running really slow -20s for a while and my friend told me to manually wind it for a bit. Like even though its automatically winding, try it. I did it and it’s magically way better????

·

Sent my Willard to Seiko UK as it was running around +40ish (inconsistent) & they told me they didn't offer a regulation service 🤯🤯
