What watch to wear?

For those with multiple watches, how do you decide which watch to you will wear? Do you wear the same watch all day or do you change it up throughout the day?

I normally wear one watch for 2-3 days and then change. Right now I am wearing my CW C62 GMT white dial with the Brodinkee-StrapHabit pink strap all month for breast cancer, at the request of my wife, (AKA she who must be obeyed).

I've got nearly all tool watches (divers & field) so it's just about how I feel.

Party, casual evening, work, beach or sitting around. Some are better depending on the day. Other days it depends on how I feel.

·

Mood and expected circumstances, setting*. Unless something totally different is going on, I'm not changing during the day.

Oh, if it might rain, I'll supposedly need to wear something of at least 100m water resistance according to the whackos. They also say that about washing hands. I'm kidding. That's foolishness.

* Also just because some watch hasn't been worn in a while.

·

Think about what I will be doing. Pick clothes, then watch. I’d only change watches if I was going to be doing different very activities throughout the day, like going to the beach in the morning and then a formal dinner at night. That seldom happens. Most days is 1 watch per day.

What ever one looks good at the moment

My dedicated 'daily wearer' Eterna is a rotten choice as such because I like it too much and don't want to see it get damaged. I often find myself either taking it off or replacing it with my RW 'beater' work watch...

·

I wear a different watch each day, usually depending on what I am wearing. Many days I’ll change later in the day so my other watches don’t get jealous! 😛

·

I wear one watch per day unless I'm going to an event where I feel another watch is more appropriate. I rarely wear the same watch two days in a row. I appreciate variety and having a watch for every mood, activity, setting, etc.

I go with what catches my attention most days. Unless it s a full or mew moon then I go moon phase.

WRUW Helps me rotate my collection ✅

·

I have a work sne573 that I wear 5days a week at work on different natos. When I get home I swap mainly with a comfortable leather usually the dresskx. In the weekend I rotate my watches depending on situations like gshock for Yard and lately the spb155 baby alpinist on the bracelet. If I'm driving alot I'll put the Q chronograph. The others I wear less but still enjoy them alot when I do. So I'd say it all depends if I work and the different situations that will present in the weekends. Cheers! ✌️

·

I pick watches that go with what I am wearing. I try to rotate watches. If I am not wearing a watch as much then its one I will consider selling or trading.

·

With my collection down to 4 I tend to wear each watch for a week and rotate them. I don’t have many occasions that require me to have a dressier watch and if that does, I’ll have my BB58 which slides under shirt cuff easy. For other days it’s almost anything as daily work attire is smart casual.

This has allowed me to enjoy my each of small collection of watches more.

·

I choose one in the morning based on anticipated activity then if needed change up for an evening event. If my choice fits the common WRUW weekday theme (Blue Monday, Speedy Tuesday, etc.) then it's mostly luck.

The theme for tonight's Los Angeles Zodiac ablogtowatch release party is "tropical chic" so putting together an outfit and matching watch will be particularly fun today.

I have a major problem with this, I have way to many watches. I’m not sure how many but I have 25 to 30 in my rotation. Of course I pick a watch based on the days activities, but I still find myself putting watches on and then changing my mind and putting on another watch so much that it almost makes me late. Now I pick three or four and carry them with me and sometimes I’ll change them throughout the day and sometimes I don’t. ( my wife thinks I’m crazy) I don’t have any really expensive pieces so I’m not afraid of anything happening to them. My more expensive watches (anything over 2 or 3 hundred dollars) I don’t carry around like that. However I do use all my watches the way they are intended to be used so I tend to be a little rough with them. Maybe if I had more expensive pieces this would be different. Maybe I am a little crazy! Watch crazy! I also have the same problem with pocket knifes.

I have 14 watches but most are sentimental and don’t wear them all. I have five that I rotate through. I took 4 with me on a long weekend recently. Wore one though the airport and the rest were in a travel watch carrier. I understand your problem! Haha!

For me I assign a role (or roles) to each watch and I’ll change the watch depending on the situation I’m. Going out for a hike? Field watch. Going to beach? Diver. Lounging at home? Vintage. Gym time? Gshock. And so on

That’s an interesting and clever way to decide!

I ask the watches which one wants to come out of the box that day. Sometimes they fight amongst themselves a bit, but usually it’s pretty civil.

This isn’t unusual. Studies have shown that after presenting people with more than 10 options, be it mutual funds in a 401k lineup or car colors or whatever, people lose the ability to make a decision. This is why I try to keep my watch box to no more than 10 pieces. Currently I have 9 “regular” watches and 3 G-Shocks, so I feel pretty good about my ability to choose what to wear each day.

3-4 of my watches dominate my rotation.

·

I want to get to that point eventually, go after a few grails and slim the collection way down but for now I’m just having fun I guess

·

I wake up and go to my watch box and a certain watch calls out to me "wear me today" - ))) Sometimes its also about what suit am I wearing and that narrows down the choices - for example if im wearing a blue suit then something with blue dials or contrasting colors look great - If its black ans white attite something with white dial and black strap makes sense etc - Sometimes it also depends on which of your watches deserves more wrist time because its so much more fun or comfortable to wear comparatively

·

Depending on what I'm doing that day will narrow it down and then might switch during the day.

·

Rotate them daily but then some days I think I’ll keep this one on for a while!

·

I wear a different one everyday. Try to rotate as much as possible.

What I am wearing usually is the first thing, but like you, I have a bulg couple of watches that are super comfy and great to wear.

·

I have one working watch Tissot seastar 1000 that’s all I can afford right now

·

Which watch I wear for the day is often dictated by mood, activity, events and attire 🤙

·

Sometimes I'll wear the same watch every day for a week. Sometimes a different watch a day. Just depends on my mood and what I'm wearing and what I'm doing for the day. And usually change watches when I get home, normally to whatever I was wearing the day before and is still running.

·

Believe it or not, but WatchCrunch, IG and YouTube encourage me to switch up my watches because I see so much variety!!
