I tend to buy 1 every year, except this year I bought 2. I have noticed that each year the budget goes up, almost as if I’m reaching for a subconscious goal!

I was beginning to feel like the watch hobby is just retail therapy. Like each purchase was "Oooh! Another shiny present to myself." So I didn't buy any watches in 2023. I did buy around a dozen straps though. 🙄
I hadn’t bought any in a few years. Stopped wearing my Apple Watch earlier this year and have bought 6 watches since with one on preorder due in January! That’s gonna be it for awhile.
I've made a purchase roughly once every 6 months, though I am happy where I am for now
No price correlation, have been up and down
We dont ask that here.
Just kidding but it depends, id say usually one a month but i also sell regularly. Just this year i sold over 40 watches. 😅
No idea, something I decided not to monitor....

This probably means an alarming amount of watches!! ;)

Yes but I only count up to 7 😁👍🏻
Too. I buy a watch too often. 🤣
I Started collecting in June and I'm already up to 6 automatics and 2 quartz's lol I'm tapping the brakes though because they haven't been super expensive and moving forward I plan to space out my purchases and make the most of the room I have
For me it depends. I love a good sale. Got a few during the 11.11 sale. Now is always good too. Discount codes are higher. Lol. I have a mental list and it helps to be on the look out for a great deal. Like this spec monster:
Titanium? Sapphire? Full bracelet? Under $140?
I don’t need another watch, but…lol
No joke I went on a manic episode and bought about 100 in 3 years. Mostly Timex, so I didn't have to lose my house. To be fair a lot of them were very inexpensive and I used them for display to fill the cabinets in my mini Watch (Timex) Museum. I do have an exit watch that I will probably buy at some point (soon). It is the Times Galli S2, it is the first Swiss made Timex and costs $975 (the most expensive Timex to date).
I know my budget limits. Good to have some controls in place. Car payment or new watch? Mortgage or watch? Kid’s college fund or new watch? Not a good road…so depends on your lifestyle and what you like. Judge wisely.
I spend about $60 a month on watch parts. Eventually that leads to a new watch. Me actually buying a new watch is a very infrequent event. If my financial advisor hadn't called me a cheapskate, i wouldn't have bought that Hanhart.
Typically I buy 2 watches a year. One more expensive/luxury watch that goes in the permanent collection. One less expensive watch that is goes in a smaller, rotating collection. I often give away the less expensive watches.
I now have 7 watches in my permanent collection. There has been a slight upward trend but I have a hard cap on what I am willing to spend (10K) that I am not willing to go over.
I bought 5 last month 🤦😂
I might go for months and don't buy any watches. I have bought several this year in just the last 3 months. Most are very inexpensive Casio's and some inexpensive AliExpress watches. I have reached the point where I started to sell some.
I have no clue about a buying schedule. When I see it I know if the time is right for purchase.
I told myself that 2022 was my last year of buying watches. I have 5 more this year. I am going to be broke pretty soon. There is no set budget, if I can afford it and absolutely love it, I will buy it. 2023 is my last year of buying watches.
We dont ask that here.

So I'll ask you where is the best place to sell?

Me too!
I wore an Apple Watch for about a year and a half straight. Fell in love with watches around late May, early June. I currently have 16 watch purchases so far. One more arriving sometime this month. And wife and kids got me some for Christmas (3 more).
So I'll ask you where is the best place to sell?
Usually ebay or chrono24, i also sell alot in facebook groups or dedicated watch forums, that way you can cut out the middle man :)

Wait... are we... not doing retail therapy? 😂
Man….i bought 3 watches during Black Friday, that’s the most I’ve ever. I returned two of them though. This year, it’s been 1 watch per month. I do need to slow down. 🤣😂

Great choice! Still trying to find your channel tho😁
Not up yet. I have Covid-19 of all things right now.
A few years back, it was a bit unhealthy with 5-10 watches a year.
Thankfully I’ve consolidated and mostly purchase 1-2 watches a year. Trying to keep to a 2-watch collection but I’m at 6 watches again now… gotta move some on.
In the beginning 2 - 3 per month. Currently 1 per month. I did slow down to 1 every 3 months once i got more expensive pieces, to allow the funds to recover. The prices aren't consistent and it varies what i end up getting next but my price cap and comfort zone definitely went way up. I used to think 200 usd was quite enough to spend on a watch. 🤪
Mine certainly has gone up..I tend to look at pieces in the 3k-6k range and the prices are going up..LOL
It is very much in fits and starts. For awhile I would buy a watch now and then. Then around 2017 I stopped buying watches, and kind of lost interest. However, this summer I got a Raymond Weil back from my son that I had lent him, and found watchmaker to repair it and another watch that had stopped. Suddenly . . . I liked watches again and bought a Steinhart Metropole and a Cocktail time Seiko Presage. And to my surprise, my wife bought me another Cocktail time Seiko (Collect them all?). Long story short, now I am getting a second watch box, and eyeing a Longines Spirit.
