There are a few weird ones( especially Gucci in any type of luxury category)
Agree with you on hublot, they should be no where near the likes of Girard Perregaux and blancpain(maybe only in terms of price) but I guess the market is the real judge and people keep buying them hublots

Seems to me this list is based strictly on price
Agreed. It looks like it’s based on how much money it will cost you to put those logos on your wrist.
I’m surprised to see that I had bought a watch from every category except ultra luxury.
Generally speaking I agree. Somewhere around the 80% mark. But I did notice one thing... where os Breguet? Should be in the high end category but nowhere to be seen.

That list is divided by price point and not popularity or sales. It's skewed to the perception of end consumer wealth not product quality. basically a dollar pecking order.
I searched for it like three times, don't know how I missed it
It’s a pretty generic typeface in my opinion. Nothing distinguishable about it whatsoever, so even if you’re looking (like you were) it’s easy to miss.
A lot of questions on this one. I'll point some out. 😄1. Tudor 2 tiers down from Rolex? 2. Bulova and Tissot are in the lowest category? 3. Zenith and Omega not in same league as Rolex? 4. Doesn't Boctok fit with the lowest level? 5. MVMT, DW, and CK (probably a couple others) should be in an added lower tier. Just quick thoughts without totally going through all of it, but I think it is very much BS. Sorry if I offended anyone. This is just my point of view. 😎
Okay, forgive my slight ignorance, but what does Ulysse Nardin actually do? I've been looking at vintage models and they seem no more interesting than most other vintage watches. Silver dial, slim manual wond movement, gold plated. Of course, some models are different with solid gold and/or automatic movements. From what I know, they all have èbauches inside.
Now in the modern era, all I know them for is their erotic horology nonsense. What makes Ulysse Nardin special?
You must be either joking or being completely ignorant/uneducated. There are many articles about their horological importance, maybe start with reading their heritage web page segment or better start with Wiikipedia, Teddy also has nice blog post on his website. I will give you one segment:
Neuchâtel Observatory releases its last official publication concerning the performance of chronometers covering the period from 1846 to 1975. According to this report Ulysse Nardin obtained 4324 certificates of performance for mechanical marine chronometers out of a total of 4504 awarded, i.e. 95%, 2411 special prizes out of which 1069 were First Prizes.Ulysse Nardin also obtained 747 First Prizes in the categories deck watch, pocket chronometer and wristwatch. At various International Exhibitions Ulysse Nardin and his successors obtained: 14 Grands Prix (First Prizes), the “Prize Medal” and the “Progress Medal”, 10 Gold Medals, 2 Prix d’Honneur, 2 Silver Medals.
And from more "modern" inventions Ulysse Nardin was the first watchmaker to ever use silicon hairspring in their watches. Not to mention one of best enameling in whole industry. As for ebauche usage I assume AP, PP, VC and other "holly watches" never used them. Or did they ( looking at you JLC )?😮

Interesting, I didn't know about their accuracy awards back in the day. I guess I've overlooked Ulysse Nardin a little too quickly.
Èbauches aren't a problem for me, as just about every house/manufacture has used one. I just never thought Ulysse Nardin was anything more special than their vintage competition, so thanks for the info!

It's in there, man I love breguet. Never be able to buy one tho. Beautiful pieces of craftsmanship
These tier lists have only one legit purpose - to introduce consumers to brands. It's marketing for the producer specifically and the watch industry in general. But the rankings and groupings are subjective pot stirring.

These tier lists are always a load of bollocks tbh

I didn't even know Ralph Lauren made watches. Let alone watches in the same bracket as Omega, Zenith and Breitling 🥺
Yep this is terrible. 👍

Rolex needs to move down a group

I would move quite a bit of these around lol
Luxury with high end price
Invicta is there.
Missed it. Is it not in the luxury section then?

Good toilet paper in my opinion. Oh wait it is someone's opinion lol
Huh? Why does ‘luxury’ get six categories and ‘consumer’ and ‘enthusiast’ only get one each?
What if I’m an ‘entry-level consumer’?! Or a ‘quasi enthusiast’ (that’s the guy who rung the bells in Notre Dane, right??)…..?
😉
At certain age, I started to use reading glasses 🤓
LMAO 👍🏻😂
Rolex needs to move down a notch
Omega needs to move down a notch (or Tudor needs to move up a notch and Grand Seiko needs to move up, Omega and GS in the same category is laughable!)
One could make an argument that Citizen, Seiko, and Casio are enthusiast brands, so putting them in the lowest of low is questionable
Tissot DEFINITELY does not belong in consumer grade, but I'm not sure where, really. Entry level luxury? Quasi-luxury?
Oh yeah, they forgot the top tier, Super duper awesome bestest ever category...
The only brand in that category?
A. Lange & Sohne
😉

Dior, Ralph Lauren, Louis Vuiton in Luxury!?!?!?! WTF? 🤨
There's so much wrong with this list, it's messing with my melon, man! 😵💫
Missed it. Is it not in the luxury section then?
Nah this list is a bit off they left out a few good ones.
Where’s Long Island watch?
Where’s Long Island watch?
Long Island I reckon.....😛
Ah clickbait...it adds no value, but we simply can't resist! 🤣
Not sure about very Goodyear budget brands like seiko, casio and orient being in the same category as mvmt, invicta and dw
