2 years of wondering if it’s too large for me

Hello fellow watch crunchers.

I think the Speedy is one of the best looking watches on the market. It’s a definition of a tool watch with styling and story behind it that hits me right in my heart. However, I tend to have a rather small wrist of 16.5cm. The Speedmaster is a large watch with a huge presence maxed out by the thin bezel and a thick pusher&crown guards.

There are days when I feel that it is waaay too obnoxiously large for me. This is being caused also by the fact that all other watches in my collecion are 36-37mm so the contrast of sizes makes it worse. Technicaly lug to lug is fine, and on paper this watch fits me. But the amount of real estate it takes on my wrist sometimes makes me cringe.

On the other hand there are days when I feel it’s sized well.

I’m torn between wearing it and wondering „does it look too big” all the time and not wearing it which is a torture as I think it’s the coolest watch ever.

So here it is, my unnecessarily complicated relationship with the Omega Speedmaster Professional 3861 Hesalite.

It looks completely fine to me. Lugs end where you wrist does so it looks like it just made makes it in my opinion

Looks absolutely fine to me. But it looks like you've got it on a single-pass nato, which will make the watch appear like its hovering a little. My advice would be to try a leather or sailcloth strap, or anything that will not come between you and the watch. It'll feel much better and far more stable.

Hey Ritchie, usually my go to for this one is the OEM bullet bracelet. But I must say I like this strap a lot although it does make the watch hover a tiny bit.

As long as its not ruining it for you, it's good. Sometimes its the smallest thing. All things taken into account, that watch looks terrific.

My 5ft 2 inch wife routinely steals my watches to wear including a 44mm Pam small seconds that I refuse to allow her to keep, insisting that she can share. That Omega looks great on your wrist, cannot comment on the others which I consider to be generally a dress size for a timepiece.

·

It’s too big. Just send it to me and I’ll free your mind of this bother. 😆

·

Probably the best fit i saw of it

Wear it with pride brother

·

As long as lugs don’t overhang, it fits. It just depends on whether you like oversized or not because yes it is a big watch. I personally don’t mind oversized at all.

Get rid of it. If it’s causing you distress, part with it and get something else. If it matters, I think it looks good on your wrist.

Looks great

·

Looks perfect, you're just accustomed to smaller watches.

Be proud, it is indeed the coolest watch ever 💪🏼👍🏻😍

For a long time, I have never considered going for timepieces with bracelets or anything over 36mm, having small wrist size. I think that fits you perfectly, I acquired the Omega Speedmaster last year and I love it. This helped built my confidence in trying other sizes.

I think it looks great on you.

Maybe it is bothering you because you are used to smaller watches? I think it always takes time to get used to a different style.

Have you tried out different strap options? How does it affect your feeling about the size?

Don’t think too much about it, enjoy it and be proud of your amazing watch :)

I think that you explain very well that even the greatest watches might not be for everyone. What makes a watch good is the feeling it gives us wearing it. Comfort and eye pleasing. That said I think it looks good on your wrist.

Na looks great

The Speedy is a great watch, wear it with pride, it fits you well.👍

·

It looks fantastic and suits you (or what I can see of you 🥸). It’s a beautiful classic piece. Likely the mostly black dial and bezel makes it appear larger. I think it’s a great fit. An understated statement piece (if that makes sense). I’d try it on a grey suede strap, from what I’ve seen the colour and the texture of the suede make the watch appear a bit smaller.

It looks great and fits you perfectly on strap. Wear it with condifence.

Looks good to me.

Looks perfect. For what it’s worth, I have a 16.5cm wrist as well and own a speedy professional and have no issues about size. It certainly has more presence on my wrist than the other watches I own, and probably couldn’t go any larger, but itfits well. Especially the new version is well designed to fit a small wrist much better.

Looks fine

Looks fine :)

Looks good my friend,i have the same issue with 40mm and above my pondering wether they are and look to big gets a million times worse when I wear one of my smaller watches for a while I get a shock when I put a bigger one on 🤣🙄

·

It looks fantastic on you.

Side note: I glimpsed a G-Shock Mudmaster (~57mm case diameter/16mm height) strapped to a cashier in a Chinese restaurant a few weeks back. The watch was like a black brick on his wrist but he wore it proudly and well so it actually worked.

It’s fine if you prefer smaller watches but whatever you wear, wear it with pride and it’ll increase your satisfaction in doing so.

I proudly own and enjoy wearing my Bulova LP and Seiko Arnie timepiece for my 6.5 inch wrist, and they are much wider and thicker than this i can tell. What matters most is not the size of the Speedy, but how well it aligns perfectly with your wrist and how much you truly value, enjoy and love it. 👌
