Tudor Black Bay Harrods problem

I’ve got this guy on December last year. Once the honeymoon period has settled I’ve been wearing it less and less mainly because of its size and weight, and I’m thinking about letting it go to another owner and replacing it with something else I’d wear more often. Nonetheless, I always keep thinking if this is going to be a future collectible and I’ll regret that. Let me know your thoughts/experiences on similar matters.

Keep it and move on, otherwise one day you'll say to yourself.. I had one of those 😡 besides you have a less than common green one, it'll be all the more uncommon one day. Nice watch!

·

It’s a great piece and collectible. Keep it.

·

Thanks you both! It only bugs me thinking that a watch of this value is not getting enough use

·

If you think that you're going to regret it, then don't

·

Sell.

·

Keeper.

On a strap wears much lighter as well as much more comfortable.

·

I bloody love the Harrods!

·

It’s beautiful I’d keep it

·

Sell it. It's a beautiful watch, but if you're not wearing it, or if you realize that you'd rather have something else, it doesn't matter that it's a collectible if it's just sitting in your box. For me, I like to wear my watches, not hold onto them for their potential future value, so if I'm not wearing one of them - it's time for it to go!

·

It does not matter whether it will become a collectible. If you want to invest money then invest it into something that is meant to be invested in, odds are strong that you'll come out ahead even if you just replicate the market. That said, the more people anticipate something will become collectible, the less likely it is for the price to skyrocket... so you are facing a dual threat here.

As a watch, if you don't wear it then sell it as long as other people haven't caught on that it's too big and heavy to wear regularly 😉. Buy something that you will wear.

·

If weight of the bracelet is a concern, why not look to an aftermarket bracelet like uncle straps? They make BB compatible bracelets that you can even use the Tudor clasp for. Been meaning to do that myself for ages but I haven't bothered to do so yet

·

I would keep it! It is not a future Kermit, and the 4 is not flat enough, IMHO. Besides, they are making tons of them! 🤷🏽‍♂️😉

·

I think it really depends on your financial situation.

If you saved hard for this and it's not what you want then move it on and get something you love.

If on the other hand you can afford to keep it and go and buy something you like then perhaps you should consider keeping it. It could one day (and in the not too distant future) become collectable.

My personal feelings are I have tried every Tudor imaginable and they don't fit my arm. I have a large wrist but it must be the wrong shape. I love to look at them but they don't suit me at all.

·

Big is usually uncomfortable. Our forbearers had the right idea with small comfortable watches. Most of mine are on soft nato's which wear out faster or leather. Flex if you want to but do it in comfort.

·

I would absolutely keep it. It’s a special piece and if you wear it only once or twice a year for a GTG or when visiting an AD, I think it’s worth it. The might stop producing them and it might actually become a special piece in the future (even more special than currently of course 😉)

·

Sell it. It's just going to bother you until you do.

·

keep it! you'll wish that you didn't sell down the road. that watch is stunning.

·

Sell. They're are already 109 of them (Tudor Black Bay Harrods 79230G) listed on C24. 55 of them are pre-worn. Not enough scarcity to be a hot collectible. The prices are below 3k GBP for used pieces needle negotiation, but prices are inflated there.

·

Sell it if you need the cash for future in comings. Otherwise shelf it aside and maybe later your world come back to this piece and it’s whole new honeymoon again

·

Tough call. It's a cool watch, and while I've never seen one in person understand it's a bit of a chunk. If it's not a financial hardship to hang on to it (ie you can add other pieces to your collection without needing to sell it to do so), I'd keep it - sort of a special occasion watch as it were. It may be collectable...50 years from now. But in the near to mid term I doubt it. As others have pointed out it's not a rare/exceptionally hard to get peice. So if you are gonna sell, may as well do it now and move on as it's unlikely to appreciate a whole lot in value.

·

Keep it simple. Just keep it :)

·

A couple of examples from me:

Size and weight are hard to resolve with time, I have the same issue with my Otis 43mm Star Wars.

Super collectible and I love the theme, but size and weight means not a lot of wrist time. I’m keeping it for now as once in while it’s just what I want.

On the we other hand, I sold my stunning looking blue sunray RGB seiko Sarb , rather than fixing it and will forever regret that move.

My Rado Captain cook doesn’t have a date (that always bugs me) and is a poor fit on my micro 6” wrist, and so I’m selling that one with no regrets (other than it’s proving hard to sell !)

If you are not wearing it at all, then sell. Unless something completely unexpected happens this watch - beautiful as it is - is not going to become a collectible anytime soon

·

I say keep it for another year if you can do so comfortably. I feel like with the new heritage BB that was released this year Tudor will soon stop making this particular case, so either Harrod’s will discontinue this collaboration, or they will continue but with a new watch. Maybe a BB58 or the new 41 metas version.

If that happens you’ll likely be able to sell it for more after this model is discontinued.

I have one and adore it, so it’s never leaving my collection (has some sentimental value). But I get what you mean, it’s a chunky boi.

Sell it, regret is how you really learn imo.

·

Sell it, sounds like the 58 or 54 would get more wrist time. I can't lie though, the colour scheme of the harrods BB is the best of the BB range.

·

Amazing piece, i would say keep and wear it on some special occasions. I think there will be a lot of regret when you sell this piece. The colours are great to one of the best.

·

I would wait a little. See if it is a good weekend watch. I had to come to the realization that divers are a pain to wear with business attire, but I'm okay with them on the weekend.

If it is simply too big or heavy, then sell it by all means.

·

Thank you all for your feedback! I will think about this and will bring news soon! Amazing how splitted opinions are here hahah

·

I’ll say keep it for the sole reason that it’s the only Tudor BB watch made this way and who knows how long they will keep offering it. While it might not have the prestige of a Rolex, it’s still unique on its own.
