30 Days of Watches

Mining my #wruw  for data.

The obsession with watches, gamification, and a little bit of pride have come together and I have successfully posted to #wruw  30 Days in a row.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, over the last 30, I have worn a #seiko on at least 15 days. There is an even split between #prospex models, #seiko5, and other random #seikos I have in the collection.
The next most common watch on my wrist is a #vostok which I wear at a rate ⅔ less than Seiko. Despite what I thought going into this exercise I wore a #komandirskie three times and an #amphibia just twice.

Next are the #pulsars, (see this post). I received the third of my #raf #reissues in the last 30 Days, so it's not surprising that I wore all three, but it turns out it was the #green #colorway that came out of the watch box on two separate occasions [1].

#orient  is the last brand to appear more than once and only the #multiyear #calendar rather than my #makoii or #chronograph.

#citizen, #haighandhastings , and #invicta  all appear once, along with a no brand #aliexpress piece running an #nh35.

With Seiko's dominance, it should be unsurprising that #diver's [2] watches should feature heavily on my wrist, and the same can probably be said about chronographs but there is a crossover, for example, I would consider the Seiko SSC015 in the diver category as well as being a chronograph.

Who knew I had so many watches with #black dials!? Half of the pieces I have worn in the last 30 Days have had black dials (yet the SNE441 is the only one I own with a black bracelet). #gold [3] was the next common (7) then #blue and #green (three each), #orange (1), and finally "other" (1). The "other" is the Vostok Komandirski 211428 featuring a Russian naval ship. I couldn't decide if it was blue or #white, or whether the picture was what defined it:

With my 6106-8629 DX and 6119-8490, I went with blue and gold respectively.

Straight down the middle but not all are divers. The Komandirskies have movable bezels of course

Mostly round, but a couple square. Most notably The #Nautilus/#royaloak -like #seiko5 7009-8370, and the classy #quartz 6530-5420

And finally, do I wear mostly new, out-of-the-box timepieces, or #vintage pieces?

Almost ⅔ vintage (or at least pre-owned). I needn't start the debate of what constitutes "vintage", but of the 30 watches that make up the data reported here, two are pre-1980, two are from the 80s, 2 of the Vostoks are pre-fall of the Soviet Union, and two are from the period around the fall of the Soviet Union.

Of the 12 "new" pieces, seven were released in the last 2-3 years (but only one, the SBDL089, and only just).

If I had the time and will I would go and have a look at everyone else's watches in #wruw over the last 30 Days... But no one got time for that!

hat said, even one day would yield some interesting data, and I am on holiday next week!

-----
[1] Interestingly I actually own 5 Pulsar timepieces. Two seem to be stuck in the watch box
[2] for sake of ease, I've counted anything with a water resistance of #200m even though I have used the "'s" here. For the most part, the divers I have worn are ISO-compliant but this isn't the case with the Vostok Amphibias which, as we all know, are capable of going well beyond 200m.
[3] After much back and forth over what colour the Seiko SBDL089 (SSC817) is, it was confirmed in this Instagram post as being "gold".

THIS is a tour de force!

Love the data and the display of data. One of the things that I like about WRUW and the Gallery feature is that it allows me to know when I am not rotating watches. In the last 30 days I have worn a vintage watch 93% of the time. Who would have guessed? It seems like a long time, but neither of those features were original to the site. With three wears, this watch is the recent winner:

I am at that stage where only a newish old watch gets worn multiple times in a month. Without the ability to look some of these might sit for months.

Won't be long before Facebook will be knocking on your door offering you a job!

Maaaaaaaan now I need to transfer my #wruw data into a spreadsheet 😕 As if being on here wasn't nerdy enough 😉

Holyshit!!! Love the stats, Looks like a new a Badge is in order!! 😎

Love this👏 great graphics and analysis

Indeed. #wruw for the last 30 Days reveals there are 40 or so pieces I haven't worn in at least a month.

Yeah, because I'm not "hardcore" enough to work for Elon Musk 🤣🤣🤣. Thankfully I'm reasonably happy with my current role, and it pays enough to keep me in watches.

Is there such a thing as "nerdy enough"? This is just data for the last 30 Days. Just wait until I reveal the database I've created to keep track track all my watches...

@WatchCrunch set to launch "prettiest visualisation of watch wearing" badge imminently!

Your too kind! I realise I have transposed the bezel and case shape graphs... Will fix that at some point 😃

·

This is very cool, I'm sure something like this could be automated on the site as well.

Would save me from doing it 😜

·

I love watches and i love graphs. Thank you!

I think for it to work people would have to accurately tag their #wruw posts.

At present @WatchCrunch needs to fix tagging in #wruw as I always have to go back and edit a post to make the #hashtags work. (works fine in regular comments and posts though)😭😭

Absolutely impressive visualization and compartmentalized data.

Great post!
