Cheers.

I made some Old Fashioneds last night to wash down a large rib eye steak, I thought it made for a good photo prop.  Anyone else a whisky/bourbon nerd?

Bad for my bank account though.

I'm a bourbon/rye/scotch man, I'll bite. What's your go to base for your Old Fashioned?

This one was Woodford.

I  very much enjoy whiskey!  in fact, given a $500K bank roll, I would quit my job and open a micro-distillery. This summer I dragged my kids and wife to Kentucky for a bourbon tour and every March when I get my bonus I buy a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue Label to celebrate the fact that I didn’t get fired.

Union Horse Rye out of Kansas City is my favorite affordable Whiskey.

I would love to do the bourbon trail, maybe someday when my kiddos are little order.  I will keep an eye out for Union horse, my cheap go to is still Elijah Craig.

·

We went to Heaven Hill where Elijah Craig is manufactured. Also went to Angels Envy and the old Stitzel-Weller distillery. Would have done more, but didn‘t want my boys to hate me.

Thats awesome, I have only been to Jim Beam and that was just the gift shop while passing though.

The classic choice. I like a Sazerac or Inside Job made with Wild Turkey 101 or Four Roses Single Barrel but for an Old Fashioned it's got to be Woodford.

Any other rye recommendations? I'm in the UK and can't find a seller for Union Horse but always on the lookout for suggestions...

Bullet and Knob Creek are good moderately priced Rye Whiskeys. Angel’s Envy is a more expensive Rye that is exceptional.

·

Old Fashioned and Manhattans here! Cheers 🥃

·

I have made bourbon a few times and oaked it with white oak. Oaked corn whiskey is my favorite.

Thanks, I'm familiar with Bullet and Angel's Envy (pretty expensive over here) but I've never tried Knob Creek.

·

Scotch more so than Bourbon but that is were the money I don't spend on watches usually goes lol. Wouldn't say I'm a nerd but I try to find something new to try a few times a year but typically stick to Glenmorangie, Macallan, or Auchentoshan.

·

GlenDronach for me :)

·

Maker‘s Mark was lovely when I used to drink. Those days are over though 😕

·

Love it!  Beautiful photo and nice choice on the Woodford and Submariner

I'm a bit of a Bourbon nerd - when I was "underemployed", I batched/vatted a couple of cheap Bourbons to get an "improved" blend - I'd mix a 1.75L of J.T.S. Brown (80 proof) with a fifth of Fighting Cock (103 proof)... and it came out pretty good @ 86.9 proof and about $13 per liter (reminding me of Evan Williams Single Barrel at 3x the price).  My friends jokingly called it "Brown C*ck" until they tried it and began referring to it as the "most excellent house Bourbon."

Nowadays, my daily drinkers are Wild Turkey 101 and Old Grand Dad 100 (and if Elijah Craig is on sale... that too) - and my "good stuff" is Four Roses single barrel and Russell's Reserve 10yr... but I'll still mix up a batch of the house Bourbon for a big party since it sips and mixes well.

BTW, Russell's Reserve Rye and Luxardo cherries make for an amazing Manhattan.

Lovely shot!

·

watches and whiskey? I'm all in.

·

No, since I generally refrain from drinking any alcohol.
