Matching wedding ring and watch metals?

Anyone here actually match their wedding ring with their watch? I’m not married yet but will be in the near future. I’m not sure if I’m getting a gold or silver ring yet, but worried if I need to think about matching it to my watches? I know there’s a variety of opinion on this so just curious on everyone’s thoughts! I don’t own any gold watches, only stainless steel, but I’d love to add a bronze to my collection👀

I personally don't let it dictate. Some do say match your metals, but where is the fun in that? Playing with mixing finishes, metals, etc is a fun way yo play with aesthetics.

Also if you wear a silicone ring, or have a ring tattoo, what then? 🤷🏻

For those that say to match your metals, does one also have to match your ring, to your watch case, to your strap hardware/bracelet, to your buckle, to your eyelets in your shoes or boots, to your screws in your eyeglasses/sunglasses? 🤔

i dont have the pict but i match my wedding ring with my watch case which is silver. but everyone is different

·

I don’t worry about. That being said. I have silver colored rings. An engagement ring and a second ring on my right hand both in different metals. I wear steel watches. So it pretty easy for me.

·

I wear a stainless ring. Goes well with stainless watches.

You can always get a gold/stainless bi-metal watch...or ring!

I've always matched stainless watch to platinum band. That being said, I need to have my wedding ring resized so I haven't been wearing it, and I only own one gold watch (which I'll wear when I feel like it and won't worry about matching).

You've got to consider most people will never notice, and half of the population is wearing superhero pajamas. I don't think it matters.

I like to match metals, but don't consider it a necessity.

This is the energy I needed thank you

My wedding band is Japanese makume gane so I’m covered by allllll the watches

·

Your ring and Watch combo will be the last thing anyone looks at during the ceremony 🤣

·

I like mixing metals so my accessories n rings and watches don’t always have to be matchy matchy. But it’s really personal pref and if u love the look of mixed metals .

·

I really can't imagine that it matters

·

My wedding ring is the only piece in gold. This distinguishes it from "normal" jewellery and makes it more special.

·

I’ve always understood yellow gold wedding bands to be an exception to the “rule” (if it’s even still a rule any more).

·

Nah. Wedding Rings are traditionally gold, and I am a traditionalist. (Plus, all those exciting titanium and tungsten things seem like a cool fun idea, till you break your finger or similar, and the medics can’t cut your ring off safely with the tools in the emergency department)

It is generally accepted that you don’t have to match your wedding ring anything, other than maybe your other half.

Also, if you’re already married, who would you try to impress with your sharp accessorising skills, y’know? 😆

White gold is the answer ✔

Everyone knows you match the watch with the bride's dress...duh...

😉

For real, she better buy a dress which looks like a watchmaker’s four, because this cool Cartier Tank isn’t going anywhere from my wrist

·

I have a platinum wedding band, so none of my watches match haha. But even in terms of color, my wife bought me a yellow gold Movado as a wedding gift. So from day one I knew that my watch and ring wouldn’t be matching

·

Yes. It matters. Its one of those few things as a man that 10x your look. If dont care about that, then don’t. I had to restart my collection after getting married and we made the choise for gold…

When making difficult decisions I often ask myself what would Tony Soprano do?

I have both a gold and silver ring so I can match metal color. I actually can't wear my original wedding ring; I lost a lot of weight and it broke when trying to resize it.

I literally had this thought today. When I was looking at rings gold and silver/platinum just didn't look right with my skin tone. I ended up going with a tantalum ring. Tantalum is very close to titanium color wise, and I just bought my first titanium watch a few weeks ago. I noticed how close they were in color the other day and it took me down a rabbit hole of titanium watches. Now I have a Grand Seiko "Shunbun" and Tudor Pelagos at the top of my want list.

This is why I have a watch tattoo. It matches my wedding ring tattoo and my shoe tattoos as well. 😂

I need to get one, just haven't found something I want and am working on several others at the moment.

I like to journal tattoo ideas, then give it a few months to a year, then I come back and if I still am 👍🏻, I get it done. But I'm weirdly particular and methodical like that 😂

·

My wedding band is platinum.

I can afford either a platinum watch, or my wife. Not both.

·

My wedding ring is silicone. With my job a metal ring would rip my finger off. With that said, I don't match. But I wouldn't care if I did wear a metal band. I spend enough time matching the dial to my clothes. If you wore alot of jewelry, then I see matching metals.
