Nodus watches. What's your thought?

I just heard about this watch through a YouTube video about Matt Farah's collaboration with the brand. I'm intrigued. From a look and design wise, this looks stellar. Just wanted to see if anyone here has watches from Nodus, and what your experience has been like.

This brand is solid. Sneaky good.

·

I have 2 and they’ve been great so far. Much better than expected.

·

I've got two and am very happy with them. I feel the quality is excellent.

Good watches hand assembled in the US for QC and the people at Nodus are genuine watch nerds.

·

I’ve owned 7 Nodus watches…and would still own them all if circumstances allow. Until I got my Tudor GMT the Avalon II and the Sector Deep were my favorite watches—the Deep made me realize I could handle the thickness of the BBGMT. And Wes and Cullen, the owners, are amazing dudes

·

I consider it the best of my collection. Nodus Sector Sport

Nodus, particularly the Sector, is a great watch. It's attractive, comfortable, great build quality, and best of all it's affordable. They're like pokémon, you got to get em all. I have two and enjoy them both immensely.

This Matt Farah collab looks amazing, but is unfortunately double the price of their regular sector. I believe they've upgraded some of the specs, and it's undoubtedly worth it. I'm sure they'll sell out quickly. But they've unfortunately priced themselves out of my budget. For that kind of money I'll buy pre-owned and get this

Thank you for you though on this. This is really helpful. This brand looks solid. I agree, for $1000+ I will prolly look for something else.

I hope I didn't push you away from Nodus as a whole. Just because the Matt Farah collab is expensive doesn't mean you should pass them up. Their Sector Sport line is fantastic and much more affordable than the limited edition. I still recommend you check them out. They're awesome.

·

Another crack appears in my disciplined Approach to watches. Here’s another beautiful brand I didn’t know about, but now I have to do my due diligence… Such great, looking watches! Especially the orange.

·

Completely, utterly satisfied with them. Their owners post here frequently, and I love their tool watches.

Love their Sector Deep.

Certainly double the price, but they went from a $20 movement to a $200 movement, thinner case, some other custom finishes. Definitely more upmarket than the traditional Sector Sport, which is a stunner, but to your point, will price some people out. You listed a lot of good watches for similar money, but it is always hard to compare a new watch to used as used are traditionally better values.

To your comparisons, the only one with a similar movement is the Longines, otherwise the specs on the Nodus are superior to the others mentioned.

All excellent and valid points!

I love Nodus, and believe they make great watches. This watch looks amazing and has great specs. It will undoubtedly sell out quickly. I don't fault anyone who buys one and I hope the guys have tons of success.

I'm willing to admit that perhaps the sticker shock and the fact that I've been financially excluded from this offering caused an unreasonable response.

However, I do think I would still purchase those other watches over the collab at this price range. But I suppose that's is just personal preference not quality or spec advantage.

Still, if this were a debate (and it basically is) I would have to conceed defeat.

There is no debate in personal preference sir. That is the great thing about the hobby. We could all be given a price point and come up with hundreds of justifiably great options.

I have four Nodus watches and two more on the way. I don’t know how to pay a brand a better compliment than this: I gifted one to my wife and I’m gifting one to my best friend who is in cancer treatment. So I guess I’ve bought 8?

·

Very happy with my recent Nodus purchase!

I dig their gmt design.

Totally get it. The big difference is that most big brands have already made history and have already told their stories. Modern independents that are less than a decade old are in the process of writing their history.

Sangin Instruments are a good example of a brand that not many on WatchCrunch know, yet they're the de facto choice for many military personnel. They were worn by marines on the ground when the US pulled out of Afghanistan a couple years back. That to me is an interesting story by a microbrand.

·

as many have already said, their Sector designs are great.

The Sector GMT is a real looker (and strap monster) for $475 - 515. When I bought mine they came on a leather strap for $450 I think. To get it on a bracelet for only $25 more is great!

·

Like many others, I can’t say enough good things about #nodus. I’ve purchased two - one for my wife and one for me. I’d happily purchase another. That collaboration is on the expensive side but their regular lineup is great and budget friendly.

My thoughts are: Nodus are fantastic and you should get one. Here’s my Avalon II in bronze and blue — far and away the most beautiful diver I own.

Image
·

I have a nodus sector sport. I’ve had it for about a year and no issues. It has a Seiko movement. I think an nh38 but I could be wrong. Build quality is solid and they have their own on the fly adjustment system in the clasp

·

I owned one sort of early on and I found the fit and finish to be more than acceptable for the price. I had the Sector Sport but ultimately decided the 38mm case size was a little smaller than I wanted so I let it go.

·

They're a very good value and well made, I own two. Really good, responsive customer support, too.

That dial color is absolutely delightful.

Updated and upgraded. It has a step up in movement (La Joux-Perret G101, 68 hour power reserve) and though it looks like the other sectors, it's a 41mm case vs the normal 39mm for the sector model so it required a complete case redesign for the size and to hold the movement. Probably new hands as well. The crown is different too. Is it worth twice the price? I don't know. If it had a day/date complication I'd be buying one because the only reason I sold my old Nodus Sector with date is because it was just a bit too small. I like all the watches you offer as alternatives but I think my favourite of the bunch would be this Nodus. I'm looking forward to what they do next now that they have the design work on the 41mm case out of the way. Just when I thought I was out of watch collecting, the pull me back in....

·

I had a sector pilot until recently. Nice watch with a decent bracelet and most accurate Seiko movement I’ve ever experienced. Only let it go to part fund a watch I was desperate to get.

I’m now tempted by the sector deep. I wish they did the black version with the crown in the normal position.

·

I love this watch, but it's out of my price range. I wish they made an affordable version of this. I don't care about the movement, 1mm of thickness, fancy case back etc. The 41mm size is great as well, something they don't offer in their cheaper watches.

·

Saw them in person at Intersect Dallas. They have some excellent models and reasonable prices. Final assembly and QC is done in LA
