Name your biggest turn off. (Not the price) ๐
I came to notice that my biggest turn off are stake-shaped hour markers, and obviously the size. I could absolutely love a watch (like the Hamilton intramatic chrono) but the size is a big turn off for my toothpick wrists.
Not directly about a watch, but I can't stand unfriendly staff in a boutique. I don't buy from a brand if they don't treat me with respect.

Excellent answer. Totally agree.
The overuse of "fauxtina" there are enough vintage watches that can be picked up and serviced if that's what someone wants.
Any sport watch with a bad lume. What was the purpose of wasting man power if the lume just lasts less than 5 minutes.

I canโt do cathedral hands.
I canโt do cathedral hands.
Wow I love cathedral hands. I also like difference of opinion ๐
I canโt do cathedral hands.
I can't do cathedral or Mercedes hands... they just look wrong to me.

150% correct
Size is the main one. Small wrist issues. ๐ซ
Also diamonds. I accept watches are just jewellery, but still prefer to leave diamonds to the ladies.

Yes, I dont do diamonds either.
Integrated straps/bracelets.
I don't like having to buy an over priced accessory instead of a (usually) higher quality after market product.
1. Excessive case sizes
2. Paying an absurd premium for brand name. Subjective but I balk at watches where a lot of the price goes to paying for the marketing budget, sports sponsorship, brand ambassadors etc, none of which I care about.
3. In-house/in-group movements, including modern Swatch Group ETA movements. Nightmare to repair and get parts for.
A way for manufacturers to create a walled garden where the only way you can get your watch serviced is through them. Plus they won't supply parts in ten years time anyway so you'll have to buy a nice new watch from them.
Sellita or mass-produced vintage all the way for me (e.g. AS, FHF, Unitas, old ETA, Landeron).
I can't do cathedral or Mercedes hands... they just look wrong to me.
My beef with cathedral and Mercedes hands is that they look great on watches from the 40s and 50s where they're consistent with the dial and case design.
The problem tends to be when those hand designs become part of the "brand identity" and are kept while the rest of the watch's design evolves to look much more modern. See Rolex and Oris.
A chick with B.O.
Size: 38mm for a round watch is generally as big as I'll go, but there are several factors at play.
Diamonds: I don't like diamonds, they belong on cutting discs and files.
Waffle dials + integrated bracelets: I like both on their own, but they should never be combined. Penalty points if the dial is navy or dark blue.
Homages: to each their own; I have nothing against homages, but I won't buy one.
Thickness: many things, milkshakes being a good example, are better when they're thicker. Watches are not. I don't like those 3mm thin watches that are as wide as a television either, but I don't want anything above 12mm.
It wasnโt hate I just get very tired of the watch community when people think poor means a stainless steel Daytona when you wanted a gold one. Iโll delete it. I get a little crotchety when I havenโt had my coffee.
Iโm still a little touchy from Facebook watch groups where I was constantly told everything I had was crap, and to โstay in my laneโ.
And my collection has consisted of nickel and dimeing over 15 years to get the few watches I have. The two Acutron 214s are the most expensive. And each one of those represents six months of scraping and scrounging and doing without. I ate a lot of rice to have that Spaceview.
Skeleton Hands, Iโm looking at you Omega

That's why I decided to leave Facebook and social media in general. Here I find it to be a welcoming community where I see love for kind of watches. It wasn't my intention of looking down homage watches because they are cheap. It is because, in my opinion, they are not creative. And the least thing I want to do is to offend or make feel bad someone for not having a purchasing power for getting luxury watches. It would be ridiculous because I don't have it either. Your hard earned accutron, in my view, have more value because of the sacrifice, and I applaud that!
I sincerely apologize if I made you feel bad. It wasn't my intention.

Itโs all good. Iโm way too touchy. But I canโt imagine being able to afford my dream watch and my homage was as close as I could get. And on the old forum I got ripped so bad for this watch. But Iโm wearing it today anyway.
Sunburst dials, unpopular yeh, but I cannot stand them.
Anything with stones, too small, to big, any type of fashion brand and kinda cookie-cutter designs (if you know what the hell I'm getting at lol)
Undersized watches. I used to own a old Rolex Air King 34mm and personally thought It was too small and just didnโt look right.
Staff that is unfriendly or rude is my biggest turnoff. On watches: small watches
It used to be Roman numerals, until I got this
Amazing watch, one of my favourites on my list.
Celeb Brand ambassadors canโt be doing with them
I have many, but for now Iโll say date displays that partially take out a numeral or indice, and dates at the 4:30 position.
Oh and useless dial text. Polished sides of a bracelet. Cheap clasps or buckles. Miyota 8200 series movements, phantom date wheels, poor lume, display case backs with low end undecoratded plain and un-special movements. Okay, so I listed a fewโฆ
Cyclops dates. I just donโt get it. If the date is too small make it bigger. For me that would look better than a weird distorting lens.
Funny you should show the omega at as its my favourite omega, or at least it would be if not for the arrow on the hour hand. No idea why but it completely puts me off the at
