First post… hi WatchCrunch!

Hi all,

Just discovered this app via the Watchfinder YouTube channel. And been having a lot of fun already!

Since this is my first post I’d like to share my (yet very humble) collection. Not every watch is as special or rare, but to me they’re the base of my collection. Two watches I’d like to point out.

Starting with the orange SKX011J. After being fascinated by watches for quite some time, I started my watchhobby a few years ago with this watch. I have had a few more SKX’s (011, 007) since then but they all left. This one stayed because to me, it means the start of my collection. And I really like the modded bezel 🙂

Second one is my Nomos Orion 35 on the right. I got this watch from my parents after graduating during a rough period. It feels like an achievement and will - of course - never leave!

Next to the watches in the picture I own a Seiko Premier chronograph and a vintage Omega DeVille, both quartz.

So, what’s next? I really like dressers. I’d love to own a Cartier Tank, but sometimes dressers lack the robustness you want from an everyday-piece. I think my next watch should be a versatile diver and my heart goes out to the Tudor BB58. Any other recommendations in this category?

Would love to hear your suggestions and here’s to having a great time on WatchCrunch!

Regards, JWO

You can't go wrong with a Tudor. I'd recommend checking the Longines and Oris watches as well

I do feel the same. Especially the BB58 bronze really does it for me - the Seiko ‘land tortoise’ I own has got quite the same colour scheme. It just really works, haha. Though, on the BB58 I don’t like the polished caseside opposite to the crown. And I’m not completely sure about the riveted bracelet. But it’s a hell of a watch, for sure 😁

So many great choices out there. Provide a wrist size and budget and this community will fill up your inbox with suggestions.

If you like the look of the integrated bracelet watch and want to get a superb quality Swiss Made watch that won't destroy your budget, then consider Maurice Lacroix. For under $2k you can get some really nice options in their Aikon line.

I mention this brand because you may not be aware of them and they are an independent Swiss brand that actually makes their watches in Switzerland.

Here are a couple of Aikons that I have in the collection...

This reference came with both a beautiful blue leather strap and bracelet with quick-change strap feature...

This Aikon was a street art collaboration that I found to be really cool and different...

They also produce the Aikon in more fun upcycled plastics in a variety of colors. I was smitten with this cool reference from the famous Thai street artist Benzilla...

They are very nice. You have every type of occasion covered. My advice is to go slow. There are plenty of things to spend money on.

·

Love the skx bezel - was totally against the steel bezels for a while but now love them.

Welcome to WatchCrunch👍

I'm almost in a coma over the blue one.

Like your Nomos , nice dress watch , you can’t put apple watches in a watch box son , they belong in the bathroom on the charger so you give them to some poor unfortunate who needs to feel successful. ( joking 🙃) welcome to the crunch :)

Haha, fair point. But empty slots in a watch box are also quite sad, aren’t they 😂 And, in defence, Apple Watch really is a nice gadget to keep track during workout 🙂

·

Nice looking collection! Good luck

·

Welcome! A suggestion for a versitile diver, I would reccoment looking at what Christopher Ward has to offer. Their Trident Pro in particular is great bang for buck and something I’ve enjoyed quite a bit myself for the use you’re describing.

Also I’m curious as to where you found your watch box?

Yeah I’m not an Apple basher , I like a Garmin for a gym workout myself, enjoy 😉

·

That Nomos movement is 😍

·

You have diver and dress watches already, might as well give flieger/field watches a try, probably one from Laco/Sinn

·

Welcome 🙏 👍🏻

·

Cool watch collection. Welcome to WC!

·

Welcome to the circus! Lovely assortment.

·

Welcome buddy!!

·

Welcome. It looks to me that your doing perfectly well on your own. Buy what speaks to you. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

·

Welcome to WatchCrunch, and lovely collection. I particularly love that Nomos...

·

Wonderful collection. I think you need a beater watch, they cost little. A F91W cost less than lunch for many people. I would recommend a G-Shock square with atomic and solar, something that will be as accurate as your apples, but not need a charge from anything but ambient light.

Now I am admittedly a fan boy for Casios, particularly the G-Shocks. But something really retro that could be fun is the Casio A1100 , it is on my current short list.

Welcome to the crunch. Do not take anything here to seriously and have a great time, I know I do. Cheers!

Love the Nomos. If you want more dress watches, may I suggest going vintage? Lots of options at affordable prices. That said, like you mentioned, robustness is not something you get with dress watches, especially not vintage dress watches.
