what was your first watch?

Wondering how many of you out there still have your first watch?

Mine is a Timex Originals Q T2N405 (pictured here)

I should clarify that this is the first watch I bought myself. I was however, the proud owner of a Vintage Casio CMD-40B 1175 when I was a kid. Lost it unfortunately.

nice! I'd imagine a G-shock to be a starter for a lot of people.

Ah the GWM5610u.  Not my first watch, but my latest.  Got it earlier this week!

This was my first watch in the early 80's. The God tier F-91W. Not this exact one. That one was destroyed umpteen years ago. I got this one with an upgraded bracelet in memory of it. I wore it everyday, everywhere. One day it quit working. My mom took it to have a new battery put in it and it no longer worked. I guess it wasn't the battery. I never seen it again.

What a great watch. I also often wonder where all my childhood watches went? I don't remember giving them away but have no idea where they are anymore.

Probably a generic Timex, purchased from the carousel display at my local Rexall Drugstore back in the early 60's.

Many years and hundreds of watches ago.

My first watch was a Tissot Rock Watch.  I loved it because it was made out of pure granite.  I still have it.  However, I learned a lot on the experience.  Tissot discontinued the watch after just a few years, and because they chose a non-standard strap and abandoned their customers I wasn’t able to get a replacement strap.  It is a burning source of pure hated from me against Tissot that has continued for about thirty years, and I am not at radioactive half life on my anger.  Because of this I shall never, ever buy another Tissot and shall never recommend the brand.  The watch no longer works, but I keep it and look at it from time to time to stroke my hate.

I'd like to say I didn't buy it because it resembled Sonny Crocket's Ebel on Miami Vice, but I'd be lying.

·

I don't although I'm trying to find one. It was a jasa g shock.......from about 1984

I do have my second  though which is from 1986-7 pictured

My dad gave me a Luminox Navy Seal watch when I was about 13 because that was one of his favorites at the time.  Wore it for years until the battery died and the band broke. Recently got into collecting and brought this back from the dead.

My first watch, from the early 80s. I was probably 6 or 7 years old when I got it. I was only allowed to wear it on special occasions (Christmas, Easter, etc.), so it stayed in great condition. Mechanical movement, still runs well. A little too small for me to wear, now. 😂

My first watch was a 1972 Timex.  I'm the 6 year old on the far left with the dial facing in like my father wears his watches.  "Old Man Fisher", a local farmer, punched an extra hole in the leather strap to fit my small wrist. Although the watch was lost somewhere along the line, it's still my favorite of all time.

Great post. I can’t remember exactly if it was a Casio calculator, or something else but the first one I really remember my high school girlfriend bought me in a department store in 1988.

I recently fixed it up and gave it my daughter for her bday.  It was the hook that has lasted a lifetime… the watch not the girl. 😂

I bought one of these Timex Expedition Atlantis watches as a kid with $20 or $30 I saved up from chores and gifted money (from like birthdays and Christmas and stuff). I remember I loved it and wore the absolute shit out of it for years (a small feat for a kid) until the center links on the bracelet started coming apart because they're rubber. Ended up in a landfill unfortunately, I think.

I remember I bought my first watch when I was 14 years old in 1986. Unfortunately I do not have it anymore but found a picture. It was a Swatch called Mezza Luna and I bought for 50 guilders (23€) in Austria in some village in Kärnten and I felt like a king!

classic swatch design! nice one

I had a Lotus watch as a kid which unfortunately I lost.
But I do still have the first watch I bought myself, this AVI-8 Eagle Squadron bronze!

Image

nice one! love that

·

My first watch was a Timex Peanuts Snoopy. Still have it, still works. The first watch I bought myself was a black and white Swatch but that is long gone.

Seiko 5 SNK803. Didn't hurt the bank and wanted to test the waters. Used well and sold since it wasn't being worn. Looks really nice here and I miss it now :(

·

I had a few casios and a pokemon watch as a kid but the first watch I ever bought myself was this invicta chrono:

Image

Don't wear it very much but still have it. It's 14 years old and has taken some knocks but still ticking

·

A circular casio which i dont remember the model and also lost it so many years ago. Gray plastic case, gray rubber strap, a rose/gold bronze bezel without any function. A GMT. But most unique feature was the pretty rounded 2nd digital display which shows multiple information by the top right button press. It was taking for ever but possible to add your own text (24 or 27 letters) as a memo :) Can someone find what it is? I've got it 1997 or 98.

·

My pops bought me a Timex Weekender in my high school years - that was my first ever proper watch. Anything older than that is a power ranger/kamen rider toy watch.

That canvas/NATO strap watch was what's cool at the time, especially with the early trends of Daniel Wellington watches coming up. That Timex Weekender, unfortunately, is now nowhere to be found. But funnily enough, I do still possess its original strap, just not the watch.

oh man. quite a first watch mystery. strap still around but wonder where the watch went. So common with the first few watches. even for me there's a couple of watches I don't remember giving away or losing, but no idea where they are now

This Marine Star served me well throughout the South Pacific in the 80's & 90's. Bulova produced very few Marine Stars with 660 ft of WR and as you can see I really beat the crap out of it. With it I dove Maui, the Great Barrier Reef, snorkled Kauai & Fiji, hiked Kangaroo Island, skydived in Cali and slammed beers in Mexico. I bought it when I knew nothing about watches but the WR, styling and quartz movement were all pluses to me then. Never letting this one go and have looked but never found another one.
