My prized possession

This is my Rolex Explorer 124270.

It marks a significant milestone in my personal and professional life. I’ve owned it for less than two years and, as you can see, it has seen some abuse. I wear it golfing, hiking, swimming, cycling, running and doing home renovations. There’s a scratch on the clasp from rock climbing in Scotland. I spent weeks picking specks of paint off the bracelet after remodeling my house. I’ve unintentionally tested the shock resistance while chopping firewood. Maybe I should be more careful? But the day I’m afraid to wear this watch is the day I sell it.

It’s my most prized possession and I worked hard to get it. Therefore, I wear it everyday and am constantly reminded of my accomplishments when I look down to check the time.

At the end of the day it’s just an over-priced machine that does an acceptable job of displaying the time. But to me this watch represents the past, present and future.

What are you wearing? Why?

Best way to be there are meant to be used people treat them like dress watches they a tool watch

That is a great story and embodies what it means to own a watch and be a true enthusiast. Great watch and now with its own history! I have my Black Bay 58. It was my first luxury watch and I will never get rid of it!

·

Keep exploring with your Explorer, awesome story.

An amazing watch, glad you’re wearing it well. I just have one question… how did you get a NATO strap to fit without ruining it!?

Without ruining the strap or watch? The strap is just a cheap, thin NATO I ordered online and it fits between the case and spring bar just fine. I lay the strap over the caseback then insert the spring bars. I can do this with my fingernails so no tools are required. I cannot insert the bars then insert and pull the strap through—it’s too tight.

Glad to see you wearing your pride and joy every day doing exactly what its designed to do!

·

Awesome seeing it get being used for what it is made for.

I like that thought process. You bought it with the intent to wear whenever you feel like it and you're going through with it. And I think and the end of the day that's what matters. You own the watch, not the other way around, and you wear it on your terms.

Best way to do it, it's a sports toll watch that is built like a tank... I don't intentionally abuse my Rolex Explorer or Submariner, and I wear a beater to job sites, but I don't baby them at all

·

I wear a Subby 16610 as a daily and it have seen it’s share of hard work but it’s something I just love and although I have many other watches that is capable of the heavy jobs I feel like something is missing when it’s not in my wrist so it stays there. It was bought to be worn need I say more?

I got tired of waiting for a reason to wear this watch and put it on tonight before I went to work(I work in an industrial enviroment)

If it gets dinged so be it

·

Wear and tear is the way

·

I totally understand doing activities wearing a watch... but painting? That's really just looking for an extra job 😂

Love the perspective. Mountains, ocean, presentation, wedding… the same watch stays on the wrist. 🤘🏼

·

Great to see this stunner being used every day and creating memories. Lovely watch!

·

Bravo! I've beat the piss out of every Rolwx I've owned or own. I have them polished at service. Could care less if they lose value. I didn't buy them to flip on ebay

Now, I don't like Rolex as a whole.

But.

Except.

The Explorer is the one watch Rolex makes that I think is close to perfect.
